Further Adventures In Wonderland...

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and had a wonderful time, even if the sun didn't shine.

Me? It's been a long weekend of crafting...I haven't stopped and still, I'm nowhere near finished. Where did all this work come from?? I've never seen so many boxes full of paper, adhesive and stamps...I haven't got time to breathe!! lol

So, because I'm so busy making lots of lovely things to show you all, asap...today, I'm showing you more of my magazine cards that have been featured over the last few months in Making Cards. And here are the next ones that complete the Alice In Wonderland set, using those fabulous Leanne Ellis stamps from Funky Kits. Hope you like them...

This card features the Mad Hatter and The Cheshire Cat and for this one, I chose to make and use a giant teapot as the backdrop to the whole design. The teapot is cut out from card and decorative paper, using the teapot template from Craftwork Cards.

The images are all coloured with Promarkers and I carried on the theme of handmade flowers, throughout all of the cards.

And the complete set in all their glory!!

Well, it's time for me to try and find some "me time" and collapse on the sofa, with Poirot or the inmates of Celebrity Big Brother. Who said I don't know how to live the high life on a bank holiday Monday!?! lol

More Adventures In Wonderland

Another day and more rain. But saying that it was always going to happen if I was going to the hairdressers and right on time, just as I was leaving with my lovely new haircut...the heavens opened and my hair ended up looking like a frizzball!! hehe...

So, it's time for another card and seeing as we visited Wonderland yesterday, I thought we might as well stay for a while and have some more adventures there and here is today's share. Some of you might recognise this card, as it was one of my Making Cards Magazine projects from a previous issue but I thought it would be nice to share it here on my blog, in detail...hope you like it!!

The stamps that I used are the Alice In Wonderland set from Funky Kits. There are six stamps in the set but these are definitely my favourite of the lot. I just love that image of the Queen of Hearts. I made the style of the card blank by using a Tim Holtz, On The Edge die and left the back section just slightly longer than the front...just to make something a little different to the normal square cards.

I coloured the images with Promarkers and highlighted them with Glossy Accents and used some gorgeous papers from My Mind's Eye on the background. Of course, no card would be complete without some of my handmade flowers and instead of regular shaped leaves, I thought it would be nice to die cut some little hearts and use those as the leaves. To finish it off, I painted a chipboard crown with gold acrylic paint and then added a coat of Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

Dreamer

Well, it's Friday night and I'm watching Coronation Street as I write this post...don't ever let it be said that I don't know how to start my weekend in style!! hehe...

For the last three days, I've done so much die cutting that I think my Cuttlebug is on fire and my right arm is definitely getting the workout of the century...at this rate, I'll end up resembling Rocky's next opponent!!

Anyway, I must admit I'm absolutely shattered but before I retire for the evening...I wanted to share today's card and the final card that I made for the Kuretake shows on Create and Craft.

This card features a stamp from Funky Kits by the wonderful Leanne Ellis. I just adore Leanne's style of artwork and this is just such a fabulous image which I handpainted using the Zig Art and Graphic Twin Pens. I then highlighted some of the areas, using Wink of Stella for a shimmery effect to the wings and clouds.

Single Rose...

Yay! It's Friday, it's sunny and to celebrate, I thought I'd share another card, that I'm so proud of! Once again, it features some of my craft obsessions of the moment, including the Spellbinders Flower Creations, Tim Holtz's dies and Grungeboard and the beautiful illustrations by Leanne Ellis.

Another thing that I love at the moment, is the natural look and these corrugated cards are perfect for that. As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them and combined with some beautiful backing papers and these dusky pink tones with a hint of sage green, I think they work perfectly!

Another element that I'm using more and more in my crafting is Tim Holtz's Grungeboard...which is fantastic. It's a very strange product and unlike any other papers or card that you will use, it's flexible, doesn't break or tear and if you haven't used it, you must. Combined with other products in his range, it really can be an essential product in your craft cupboard.

Faraway Thoughts

It's the start of a brand new crafting week and as always, a week in the life of a crafter is a busy one. So many new products that are always tempting and I just wish I could have them all but unfortunately, the bank manager wouldn't be too pleased with me if I did. But I have got some new Tim Holtz dies that I will be playing with and I've also got some new Kraftin Kimmie stamps, that arrived Saturday from the wonderful Dies To Die For.

As for today's card...well, I think it's one of my favourite cards that I've made for a while. It features one of the newly released rubber stamp designs from Leanne Ellis, which are available from Funky Kits and they are FABULOUS!!!

You might also have noticed the paper flower and leaves, in the corner of the card. I made these, by hand, using Spellbinders Shapeabilites Flower Creations 3 and Assorted Leaves dies. At first, I hesitated as to whether I should invest in these Die Cuts. Yes, they are quite expensive and every penny counts but I am so glad that I did. There is just so much I'll be able to do with them and using them in conjunction with Distress Inks and patterned paper, they just make an absolutely stunning addition to any card!

The backing papers I used are from K & Company and I coloured the image in using Promarker Pens. Together with some finishing touches of glitter, ribbon and adhesive stones, I am just so pleased with how this card turned out...I LOVE it!!!

Little Miss Attitude

...and a Happy Tuesday to you all....

My Mum's first words, when she saw this card were...

"It reminds me so much of you when you were little, because this is exactly the stance you used to take, when you wanted something and I said no".

And I guess, I can't argue with that...after all, Mum knows best...and one day, remind me to show you the photo of me, in this exact same pose, arms folded, defiant look and showing some childhood attitude, after being told~ "Don't!!"

So, as for today's card ~ my love affair with Gorjuss continues and I made this one using the Sugar Nellie, Gorjuss rubber stamps from Funky Kits. When I saw the image, I just couldn't say no...it's so cute!!

I matted and layered some K&Company papers from the Sparkly Sweet range, onto a square white card blank and to be honest, the papers are so beautiful and the image is so striking that I really didn't want to overcomplicate the card. So, once I had stamped the Little Miss Attitude image onto some plain white cardstock, which I previously diecut using a Spellbinders label die, through the Cuttlebug. I then coloured it in using Promarker pens, highlighted the little hearts in her hair and on the dress with glitter and then just around the edge of the card, I used distress inks for a to give some softness to the diecut.

I then layered the completed image onto the matts of backing paper, using 3D foam and as finishing touches, I added some fabulous pink spotty satin ribbon, tied a little bow and adhered a cute heart shaped button. Finally, I stamped the "Just Because" greeting, punched some butterflies using a Martha Stewart stamp & punch and a grand adhesive glittery flower. 

Day Dream Believer...

The sun is shining and spring is in the air ~ it's the perfect Sunday!

And here's another little creation that I've made...

Once again, I used Leanne Ellis' ~ beautiful and by now, one of my much loved and used, 'Dreamer' rubber stamp from Sugar Nellie at Funky Kits. This time, I stamped it up the image in brown and used various shades of pinks, browns and neutral tones to colour it in. The backing papers by K & Company, are the perfect match to compliment the colours that I chose for the main image and they work so well with the ribbons and the gorgeous Petaloo flower, with the little button I popped in the middle. I colourwashed the greetings plaque with a Brilliance Dew Drop ink pad, pearlescent orchid, to give me the right shade of pink and then adhered all these elements to the matts and layers, which I'd already stuck to my card blank. Some of the matts, I had already embossed through the Cuttlebug using the script embossing folder and some of the paper, I tore and then used distress ink on for an aged feel.

Party Princess

And in celebration of the fact that my flu looks like it really is finally going away, my voice is slowly returning to normal and that tomorrow, I'm looking forward to a day of the fabulous Tim Holtz and his amazing products on QVC UK...I thought now would be as good a time as any to break open the champagne, (or maybe Pinot Grigio) and show off my little Party Princess.

Yes, this does mean that I have made a return visit to Funky Kits to buy some more stamps, but who could blame me? They are "Gorjuss" ...And for this card, I wanted to make it bright and cheerful and chose these wonderful backing papers from Rob & Bob's Studio to accompany my image. The image itself was stamped onto a piece of cream card that was die cut on the Cuttlebug and aged around the edges, with the Tattered Rose distress ink and used Promarker Pens to colour it in. I then matted and layered the backing papers and image onto cream cardstock and used ribbon, a gorgeous big, bold flower from DCWV which in it's centre, I added a small blue button and a greeting plaque as the final embellishments. As an extra finishing touch on this card, I coiled a piece of orange wire and adhered this to the flower.

In the Pink

Well, I did tell you just how much I loved Sugar Nellie stamps and I was really pleased with all the stamps that I purchased from Funky Kits earlier this month and I'll definitely be going back for some more...how can I resist when they do such adorable designs. But out of all the stamps I did buy in January, I think I saved the best until last...and isn't it just perfect for this time of year?

These stamps give such crisp, clean images and are a pleasure to work with... Here, I stamped the image using a black Versafine ink pad and then coloured it in with Promarker Pens. I matted and layered the image onto co-ordinating papers in pink and brown and used some Distress Inks around the edge. The cardstock that I used is a normal square 15cm white card but using my rotary trimmer and a scalloped blade, I sliced some of the front of the card off and then just ran my ink pad around the edge of the card with some more Distress Ink. I covered the front and also, a section of the inside of the with some beautiful Kate Knight backing papers from Dovecraft and once that is done, stuck my matted image onto the front, slightly overhanging the cut edge. I added a final touch of pink satin ribbon, a bow, a greetings plaque and last but not least, a cute little heart shaped button.
