Hi everyone and welcome to a brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! This week there are no rules, it's just ANYTHING GOES!!
Hope you'll join us and play along and we can't wait to see what you create...
For my project, I decided to have a bit of fun this week and wanted to play with those crazy birds and speaking of crazy birds ~ did you see Tim's new Bird Crazy die set and all those fun stamps that now go with these birds? I just love them and can't wait to play with these asap! But I digress, so back to this week's post and my card...and because I don't have either of those sets...YET, I combined one of the birds with my other favourite stamp collection from Tim Holtz ~ Flower Garden.
So, here's how I made it...To begin with I took a piece of watercolour card and stamped my bird into position using Jet Black Archival Ink. I then scribbled my colours of Distress Marker Pens onto my craft sheet and using a water brush, I picked up the colour and painted my adorable crazy bird!
Always heat dry your artwork to set the inks before moving onto the next stage and for this I used Distress Inks and a blending tool to create a cloudy sky background, by blending the Tumbled Glass Distress Ink around a scalloped die cut and used Pumice Stone Distress Ink to add the ground for the bird to stand on.
Now, I need to work on those flowers and for this I stamped three images of the same flower and again water coloured them using Distress Marker Pens and a water brush.
I also stamped a couple of the stems and used Twisted Citron and Shabby Shutters to colour them.
I cut the leaves away from one of the stems and then attached both stems to my artwork, adding the cutaway leaves at the bottom, where the stems join.
I then placed two of my painted flowers onto the stems and used foam pads to add some dimension.
As for the remaining flower, well it had to be done...his face was crying out for it and the last flower was popped onto his head!! Again I used foam pads to created dimension and perspective.
To complete my artwork I inked around the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and matted it onto black soot core'dinations card. I mounted the artwork onto a black card blank and added some dried moss, cheesecloth and a Remnant Rub.
I then stamped the quote onto some inked card stock, matted it onto a piece of card which I inked with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to match my flowers and attached the quote, together with some linen ribbon, tied into a bow.
As the finishing touch I added a beautiful crystal gem...
...and that completes my project for this week and who could not love that little face, with his quizzical look ~ he's just totally adorable and I hope you've loved this card, as much as I loved making it! I definitely smiled throughout the creative process!
