Happy Birthday, Mum!

Well, I know tomorrow is going to be a busy day, so I thought I would post this early and share the card that I made for my Mum's birthday, with all my lovely followers. I know she won't peek before the morning...she's been warned!!

And here it is...a special card for a special lady...

There is so much work in this lil creation, I wouldn't know where to begin to tell you what I'd actually done but the main feature of the card, is th die cuts and stamps from the God, Tim Holtz. I teamed these with some gorgeous papers from K & Company. These papers are the sort of papers that usually, I will look at, stroke and never want to cut in to but it was a special occasion, so I did the deed and took the scissors and paper trimmer to them!

I added the finishing touches of my handmade blossoms with their petals lightly tipped in Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, some seam binding and a gorgeous pin, just tucked into the birdcage.

Last but not least, I stamped a message, using a Creative Expressions stamp and put this inside the card.

Well, I'm off to watch Casualty, with a nice cup of tea...don't let it be said I don't know how to live on a Saturday night! lol

Flight of Fancy

Here we are, again! The start of a brand new week and the sun is shining, which makes such a lovely change from all this cold, damp weather we've had over the last few months!

So, how was everyone's weekend? Mine was fairly busy but I did manage to get lots of creativity going and this is the first of my shares!

Powder blue and cream is such a winning combination of colours for me...I love them in interior design and I love to wear this combination. So, it would be an absolute sin, not to include them in my work. Hope you like it...

The images are from a stamp set by Kanban and I coloured the using Promarkers. I combined the finished image with some beautiful designer papers from K&Company and once again, I couldn't resist adding my handmade flowers, which I made using a die from PaperArtsy. As a finishing touch, I popped on a sentiment and die cut flourish.

Well, I'd better get back to work...I received the latest collection from Craftwork Cards on Saturday and it is adorable! Check out my blog all week for all my lil creations that I make using these fabulous new items.

Spring Has Sprung

Can anyone believe it's March, already? Well, it is and I wanted to wish everyone, a belated but happy St. David's Day. 

So, Spring is just around the corner and the daffodils are poking their little heads through the ground and nearly in bloom and to celebrate the end of a very long winter, I thought this card would be appropriate for today's share!! Hope you like it...

The daffodil image is from a acrylic stamp sheet by Dawn Bibby and I've used K&Company papers on the background. As finishing touches, I've added my much loved and well used flourish die cuts, some punched butterflies and last but by no means least...a little bit of indulgence! Yes, the Melt Pot came out, again and I melted down some UTEE and then dropped my Hero Arts rubber stamp into the molten liquid to make this beautiful piece of enamel!

Codi and Friend...

Hope everyone is having a great week...and even though, I might be still suffering with the effects of flu that hasn't stopped my creative juices flowing. Last week, I noticed a DT call over at Pollycraft and couldn't help but be a little bit interested when I saw the great images they have on offer. In fact, they were so wonderful, I decided to use both...

It's been a little bit difficult getting good photos of my cards today because it's dull and rainy here in London but I wanted to make sure that these images were bright and colourful, so...for these cards, once I'd printed off the lovely digital images, I coloured both of them in, using Promarker pens and used some beautiful K & Company backing papers.

For Codi...I used a white square card blank, matted and layered the papers onto them and cut a strip for the bottom, punching a decorative border with a Martha Stewart border punch. The main image was matted and layered, distressed around the edges with distress inks and then adhered to the card, I used a black pen around the edge to give the effect of faux stitching and as final touches, I added the big paper flower from DCWV, the lovely stitched ribbon and a greeting which I handstamped onto white card, die cut using the Cuttlebug.

For the lovely little chick with his huge cupcake, this card is made in the same way but I die cut the shape with a Spellbinders die and then handstamped the flowers, using Dawn Bibby's acrylic stamp set, onto white card, coloured them in using Promarkers and cut each of them out by hand. Once again, I matted and layered the K and Company papers onto a white card blank, and then adhered the main image in the centre, surrounded by my stamped flowers, with their tiny jeweled centres and a greetings plaque.

Love is all around....

The "heart and flowers" stamp that I used on this card is such a beautiful and delicate image to work with and even when I've embossed the stamped image with gold embossing powder, none of the very fine detail has been lost. Also, what I personally love about crafting with stamps, is that by using different inks, different colours, different embossing powders, you never get the same look.  The slightest change will make the end result completely different.

On this card, after stamping and embossing the image onto cream cardstock, I then cut it out and using foam pads for dimension, layered it on some K and Company papers.  I used glossy accents to highlight some of the flowers together with small, gold gem stones and then finally, as a finishing touch I added a ribbon and small bell charm. Hope you like it....

Elegant lady!

Another card and another, not exceptionally great photo but looking on the bright side, if ever there's a reason to buy a new camera, I think this might be it!

Once again, this was a "must have" stamp!  The image and detail of the lady on the stamp is stunning and combined with K & Company background papers, this makes a simple, yet extremely elegant card.  I added the finishing touches with my much loved and well used swirl stamps and the edges were chalked and then inked, using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, just to give that worn and vintage feel to the whole project.
