Paris ~ New York ~ London

Today, is a big day in the life of the Williams'...my Daddy is retiring, after working for 54 years! He started work at the tender age of 15 and finally, after many travels around the world and many achievements that I'm so very proud of...he's calling time on being a "workaholic" ~ yes Dad, I am talking about you...lol ~ and hanging up his suits and briefcase.

So Dad, after all your years of hard work, coping with illness, looking after your family and day after day, putting up with the tube journeys and Number 74 bus...I hope you have the most wonderful retirement. And remember:

"The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off"
- Abe Lemons
And p.s. ~ this is the best photo you will ever see of my Dad...I think it's a family trait that none of us like to have our photo taken and if I'd have put any other photo on the internet, other than this one...he'd kill me!! lol
Happy Retirement Dad!!!
xx

And now, back to today's share and the reason I chose this card to show you all, is because it's one of my Dad's favourite cards that I've made over the recent weeks...so, today's share is a special one and I hope you like it!

This card is a side stepper card and you know how I told you how much I loved my new Spellbinders Flourish dies, well what better way to show them off than on a card like this. The main image, is basically a "splodge" of ink, from a Jenni Bowlin ink pad, on my craft mat, sprayed with water and then I dragged the cardstock over it to give this lovely dripped look. I overstamped with a Tim Holtz stamp from the Papillon set and then made a huge bloom using Grungepaper, Distress Inks and the Tattered Florals die. I finally added the Spellbinders flourishes and layered them up on the steps of the card.

Well, I'm off to pack up all my crafting goodies and send them off to Craftwork Cards...can't wait to show you what I've made. Have you ever had a time when you make a set of projects and you've pushed the boundaries that little bit more and can't contain the excitement about what you've achieved? Well, with these projects, that happened to me and I'm so excited!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
See you soon and thank you for stopping by and taking a look at my lil creations!

  11. I hope your Dad is enjoying the first days of his retirement. My Dad retired early and I'm so glad he did as he died just after his 65th birthday so would have seen little retirement. As it was he had 8 great years and he certainly made the most of them.
Your card is wonderful. I love the ink splodge with the TH stamp and that swirl is absolutely gorgeous. I have a feeling that will definitely be added to my collection once it's available.
I hope you have a really good weekend and don't work too hard.

  12. That is a lovely card. Emma, really classy, as usual from you. I am sure your Dad will love his retirement and soon wonder how he ever found time to go out to work at all. By the by, I hope Dawn Bibby soon learns to allow Barbara Gray to get on with her demos, and also tells us who made the cards. I, for one, love knowing who did which.
