Stars and Stripes

Have you ever had one of those days, where you work on something all day long, only to think at the end of it, 'why didn't I scrap this at 11:00 this morning instead of persevering?'. Saturday was exactly like that for me...I worked on a project for a whole day, knowing that there was something not quite right and getting more and more frustrated by the minute, "trying" to get it right. In the end, I finally decided to give up but was so frustrated to have lost a whole day!! So today, I came back to the drawing board and managed to start again and finish the whole project in two hours!!! It's funny how things work out, isn't it?!?

Anyway, enough about my tales of crafting woe and time to share my post for today...I hope you like it.
This card was a card that I made for one of the Craftwork Cards shows on QVC, last week. I had some beautiful papers left over from the Shabby Vintage kit, featuring maps of the USA and lots of Stars and Stripes Candi ~ so, there was only one thing that came to mind and here it is...
It wasn't the easiest of cards to photograph but I had a really good try, as I wanted to capture all the detail.

Everything that you see on this card is available from Craftwork Cards and QVC.
So, that's the first of the cards and I'll be back with plenty more during the week.
Before I head off into kitchen to cook dinner, I just wanted to say a big thank you to the very lovely, Zoe who left this award for me on her blog. I was over the moon with it and felt very humbled by her extremely kind words about my work.

Okey dokey, time for me to go...thanks for popping by to look at my little creation of the day and I will be round to take a peek at all your lovely works of art, later tonight when I get to sit down with a cuppa!
See you soon and bye for now!
Love Emma xxx

  1. Aw glad you were pleased with the award. This card is fab, I've been doing lots of projects in these colours too. Love how you've used the candi & flowers and especially the paper rolls to hold the card. I keep seeing the rolls of paper technique & thinking I must try that! xx

Fab easel card, and a great idea with the paper rolls to support the card. Love your use of the 'stars & stripes' candy.

  4. Fabulous card Emma, love the colours, these colours would also work fabulously for our Olympics. Love the rolled paper to support the easel, very clever. I have any days where I persevere with a project for hours only to put it in the bin, very frustrating. Tracy x

  6. Hi Emma, I can definitely say I've had many days like that! I've even got cards ready for posting and scrapped them at the last minute because that feeling in my tummy told me it wasn't right!

I knew this card was yours as soon as I saw it on TV! Fab!

  8. Clever clever card Emma. Love the paper rolls giving the illusion that the map is unfurling.
I had one of those days yesterday - whole day wasted on one card that I couldn't get right - I've scrapped it this morning. Why do we do it? Hope it's a better day today, although this miserable weather isn't helping.

  9. It's funny how you get those type of projects, isn't it, struggle away and know it's not right and then start again and it all comes together in no time. I'm glad it all worked out for you but how annoying to loose so much time when you are so busy.
Love your American card, that candy is gorgeous.
Hope you've had a good day today.
    Hugs Lisax
