The Ol' Crooked House

No-one could fail to notice that Halloween is nearly upon us and as I get ready to carve the pumpkins, fill bowls full of chocolate and candy and finally decorate the house ready for the big night, I wanted to countdown with my final Halloween projects...and here's the first!

A hand decorated jar full of wicked chocolate goodies and a card made purely using die cut images from Tim Holtz and Spellbinders.
When Tim Holtz showcased his latest Alterations collection for Sizzix at CHA, I was immediately drawn to this this old, crooked house because I just knew it would work in conjunction with my Spellbinders dies.

So, how did I make this card? To be honest, the thing that you need most to make this is patience, there is quite a bit of die-cutting that is needed but once I'd die cut all my elements it was just a matter of putting everything together and with a little bit of distress ink, here and there, I ended up with this little house of horror! Hope you like it....

As for my little jar, I used some Halloween stamps from QVC and used these to decorate the labels and even the tissue paper. I added a few more bat shaped die cuts and also, I die cut the word, BOO using Tim's Vintage Market die, then covered it in glitter. As a final touch, I tied some beautiful orange fibre into a bow and last but not...I added the most vital of ingredients, I added the chocolate!

I hope that I've been able to inspire you with some of my ideas and that by now, whatever you have planned for Halloween, you're all looking forward to it!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look....

  1. oh nice...double the Halloween Fun! :D

Love the card...the various die-cut elements and the backing paper...it's all put together beautifully! right down to the little puff of smoke from the chimney! and what a creative use of a few crafting items to make up the candy jar! making your own unique one beats buying a mass produced one from the store ANY DAY! :D

    fabulous work! <333

  2. Oh I love that card and jar of goodies! I've made my last Halloween card too but it won't be on my blog 'till Friday (Daring Cardmakers)! Think we were on the same wavelength yet again - House, bats and fence - you'll see what I mean. I was looking on the Sizzix website the other day too and nearly bought the house and raven dies. Wish I had now!
