Use Your Wings ~ Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015

Hi everyone!

I'm just popping by to share my version of Tim Holtz's wonderful March tag in his 12 Tags of 2015 series! This month, we saw Tim show us how to create textured backgrounds using Texture Paste and embossing powder and if you haven't tried it yet ~ then you must as it creates a wonderful effect and such a gorgeous opulence to the tag. For all the techniques involved in this tag, just pop over to Tim's post, HERE!
For my version of the tag, I changed a few things ~ including the colours of the background, I went with my favourite blues and greens and included the gorgeous Cracked Pistachio.

I also added a couple of different embellishments and when it came to creating the texture paste background, I didn't want a shiny, molten gold and instead used a textural embossing powder to give me a more vintage, rustic appearance.

I really hope you love my interpretation of Tim's tag and thank you so much for popping by and taking a look!

See you all again soon ~ love Emma xx

Could i ask a question please. You use Distress Paints, do you find they are better than the inks or is it just thats your preferred medium Emma?
    Thank You.

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Jane ~ I really do appreciate your kind words about my tag!

In answer to your question, all dependant on my project and what surface I'm using, I do use the marker pens, inks, paints, stains and spray mists but for this particular background I would recommend using the paints. They create this wonderful semi opaque to opaque marbled effect, whereas the Distress Inks will give a softer, more diffused appearance. I also love that you can use the paints to colour metal or as in my tag, the plastic letters! Hope that helps and if you have any more questions, I'm here...ask away!

      Thank you once again. :-)

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment and in answer to your question, I used a combination of Ranger's Antiquities Embossing Powder in Rust and their Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder. The stencil I used was Tim's Flourish Layering Stencil! Hope that helps and don't hesitate if you ever need to ask anything else! Have a great weekend and thanks once again...

Cos now I need it in my stash as this is just the best vintage look I have ever seen. I already have that stencil on my wish list, it is just beautiful....Can't wait for it to be available in my neck of the woods.
