We Love Stamps

It is Valentine’s week and this week the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is all about We Love Stamps ~ can’t you just feel love in the air? So whether you use a favorite technique or create a project featuring your favorite stamp - enjoy and I really hope you'll join us.
For my piece, I made a slider tag, which when opened showcases the gorgeous Tim Holtz ~ To My Valentine tag from the Love Struck stamp set.
To make this slider tag the first thing I did was to make the pocket using Manila card. I made a 15 x 8.5cm pocket which fits the tag perfectly. Before assembling the pocket, I applied some Tumbled Glass, Antique Linen and Brushed Pewter Distress Stain to my craft mat, spritzed it with water and then dragged the Manila card through the stains to pick up the colour. I then did exactly the same, using a size 8 tag picking up the remainder of ink that was left my mat. I then assembled the pocket, added some layers onto my background using Tim Holtz's Stars Layering Stencil and the heart from the Love Struck stamp set, which I stamped using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. For the final layer, I inked up the Love Text with Watering Can Archival Ink and stamped onto random areas of the pocket, before inking the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
For the tag, I used the same inks and stamps to create my background but then used the gorgeous "To My Valentine" stamp as the main focal point on the tag. Finally, I flicked small amounts of White Linen Dylusions Spray over the pocket and the tag.
For the next step, I created the roses for the front of the pocket using Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals Die from Sizzix. Each petal was die cut from lightweight card and then spritzed with Postbox Red Dylusions Spray, dried and then spritzed again using Perfect Pearls Biscotti Spray Mist. I assembled the petals to create one large dimensional rose and two smaller ones and then attached these to the front of my pocket, with some twine.
I then used some Grungeboard to die cut my hearts, which were painted with Fired Brick Distress Paint and then I added a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint and watched those cracks appear. Once the paint was dry, I added some Tarnished Brass Distress Stain over the top to sink into the crackle and then attached the larger heart onto the front of my pocket and the smaller heart onto the tag itself.
I stamped the "Love" ticket from the stamp set, inked the surface and edges and attached it to the flower cluster using a Memo Pin and added some coils of rusty wire.
Finally, I tied some ribbon and paper string to the tag and attached a Muse token using a Wire Pin.
So, I hope I've inspired you with my Valentine's Slider Tag and the wonderful stamps that I used to create this piece. I'm really looking forward to seeing all your fabulous creations and I do hope you will join us in this week's challenge.
