Now back to my make and I created a card that can be used for any occasion, “just because”…and I used four of the beautiful new dies from this release, including the glorious Dancing Snowflake die which is stunning!
I started by making a black card blank to measure, 14 x 17cm. I then cut a piece of the SSS ivory card, 13 x16cm and machine stitched a borer around the outside before matting it onto a piece of gold glitter card from the Sizzix Gold Surfacez Opulent card pack. I mounted the layers onto my card blank leaving a border showing around the outside.
Moving onto the next set of layers, I took the Detail Tapestry Plate and cut a second panel of the ivory card. After inking the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, I machine stitched a border around the edge of the die cut panel and then matted it onto gold mirror card, again taken from the Sizzix card pack and a panel of the black card before I mounted these layers onto the card blank, using foam pads.
Now to for those stunning Dancing Snowflakes...
DANCING SNOWFLAKES
I cut three separate die cuts from black card and layered these over the top of one another using Matte Collage Medium to adhere each layer. I then cut a final layer from the gold card in the Sizzix pack and I attached this over the top of the snowflakes die cut to form a raised die cut that resembles the thickness of mount board.
I didn't want the gold to be too bright and shiny, so I used Black Soot Distress Paint to knock the colour back. I applied a coverage of the paint using a paint brush and brushed this over the gold surface of the snowflakes, I then wiped away the excess of the paint using a soft towel. The surface will retain as much paint as it needs, allowing it to still be gold but with a slightly tarnished effect. Allow to dry and repeat this process to make a second dancing snowflake die cut.
Once I had the two snowflakes, I attached them over the top of the layers on my card blank and I used Matte Collage Medium to adhere them into place.
Placing one to go across the top section...
BAND ACROSS CARD
For the band across the card, I cut a panel of black card 11.5 x 5.5cm and then taking the Refracted Medallion die, I used this to cut four separate die cuts from black card. Taking two of the die cuts, I adhered these over the top of one another to form one die cut and repeated this with the remaining two die cuts.
Place each of the layered die cuts and place them side by side onto the black band of card, using matte Collage Medium to attach them.
Using my fingertip, I applied Vintage Gold Alchemy Wax over the raised surface of the die cuts attached to the band. This adds a subtle shimmer to the die cuts.
WORDING
Cut the Just Believe wording 3 times from black card and a final time from the gold card. Layer these die cuts to form one substantial die cut word and as with the snowflakes, I knocked the gold back by using Black Soot Distress Paint.
Place the die cut word onto the solid backing cut from black card and attach to the band.
Finally, add small Chunky gold Jewels to the centres of the snowflakes and onto the Refracted Medallions attached to the black band.
That completes my card for this hop and I really hope you love the project I've made because it was so much fun to create...
