All The Feels Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop

Hello friends and welcome to Day 2 of the Simon Says Stamp All The Feels Blog Hop...

Today, I'm really happy to be joining so many talented designers as one of the stops on this hop and if you'd like to see this fabulous new release in full, then just pop over to Simon Says Stamp.

You might have arrived here from Mindy's blog, but if not and you've just popped by and would love to join us for this fun hop, then don't worry because you can head back to the beginning over on Simon Says Stamp's Blog. Also, if you make anything using any of the awesome new products from this release, then we would love for you to share your creations with us in the All The Feel's gallery.

There are so many gorgeous new products in this release, and I can guarantee you'll be spoilt for choice but I chose to create a card using the Happy Everything Dies, Spring Flowers Background and here's how I created it.

To begin with I cut a panel of Tim Holtz Distress Kraft Heavystock card, 11 x 14.5cm and using my Tim Holtz stamp platform, I stamped the Spring Flowers background stamp over the entire piece using Versamark Clear Ink. I then sprinkled Fine White Embossing Powder over the top and tapped away the excess before heat embossing the powder until molten.
Next, I cut a second panel of the card, 12.5 x 17cm, together with an 8.5cm die cut circle of the kraft card and repeated the above step on both pieces. For the circle, I used the Sizzix Stitched Circle Die set from Tim Holtz but if you don't own this, any circle will work.
Now that I have my two stamped panels and the circle, I spent the next hour happily colouring in all the detail. On the larger panel, to save time, I coloured the outside edge only as this is the part that will be showing on the final card, and you won't see any more, so it saves precious time.

Taking the larger panel, I matted this onto a piece of cream card, followed by green card from the Tim Holtz Cool Kraft Stack, which I cut slightly larger than the embossed panel, and also distressed slightly using a sanding tool, to create more of a vintage feel.

I matted and layered this onto a piece of kraft card, and then mounted the layers onto a card blank made from SSS Dark Chocolate card.

After matting the smaller panel onto more of the green card from the Kraft Stack, I mounted this onto the card front using foam pads before completing the layers by adding a 1cm strip stamped, coloured and matted onto green card across the centre of the card panels.

Cut a strip of Mummy Cloth from the Tim Holtz Halloween Trimmings set and colour the trimming by spritzing with Kitsch Flamingo and Antique Linen Distress Spray Stains. Dry the cloth and then wrap around the centre of the card front, securing with a knot on the left. I pinned a small mini pin into the knot.
I trimmed my stacked circle die cut to create a jagged deckle edge and then matted this onto the green card before mounting the circle onto the left hand side of my card front.
Next, I used the Happy Everything die to die cut Mixed Media Heavystock card, four separate times. I then layered and adhered each of the die cuts over one another using Matte Collage Medium, to create the two words but with the thickness of chipboard.

Dab the Versamark Ink Pad over the top of the die cut wording and sprinkle with Wendy Vecchi Buttercup Embossing Powder. Tap away the excess and heat emboss. Repeat the embossing process a second time to create the enamelled look to the lettering.

Using the shadow section of the Happy Everything die, die cut vellum and then layer the enamelled wording over the top.

Attach the wording onto the circle, overlapping the edges.

I coloured the bee from Tim Holtz's Entomology Adornments with Alcohol Inks. Painting the inks onto the metal. Colours used: Butterscotch, Aqua, Mushroom and Gilded Alloy.

I attached the bee to the circle and added a few sequins around the wording.

To complete the card, I added Index Clips to the top left and bottom right of the smaller embossed panel and then placed a Hardware Head over each clip, both of which are altered with a little Black Soot and Ground Espresso Distress paint.

So that's my card finished and I hope you love the vintage feel and the gorgeous background ~ it makes me feel that spring is definitely just around the corner and better days might be ahead! Fingers crossed....

Due Date ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hi everyone!

Well, another week has flown by and it's already time for a brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week our challenge is called ~ DUE DATE!

Will you think of libraries, date stamps or maybe craft assignments? Or will you craft along the lines of a new baby or perhaps something past it's due date? We look forward to seeing what you create and don't forget the due date for this challenge is no later than Sunday evening!

For my project, I decided to upcycle a clipboard. What was once a boring old board, is now something a lot more exciting and will have pride of place in my craft room!
To begin with, using a palette knife I applied a good coat of Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste over the entire surface of the board and set it aside for those cracks to appear! Once the board is dry, then you can start adding colour and for this I used a wash of Cracked Pistachio, Picket Fence and Tarnished Brass Distress Paint. Give the paint a blast of heat to dry it and then I added a small amount of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and let it seep into the cracks before wiping away any excess using a baby wipe.
I added some more Picket Fence around the outside and then dabbed a clear embossing pad onto random areas around the edge and applied Sticky Embossing Powder over the top before tapping away the excess. Heat the powder and then I used the Ranger Foil Sheets to apply small amounts of gold to give a rich, opulent look. Add a small amount of Walnut Stain Distress Ink around the edges.

The next stage was to alter the clip from a shiny silver to a rusty bronze and for this, I used Alcohol Inks applied to the clip using a felt applicator tool.
For the finishing touch, I added an alpha part, coloured with Picket Fence and Tarnished Brass Distress Paint and now, you have one altered clipboard ready for the fun part of embellishing!
For this, I started by adding a strip of film ribbon across my board and held this in place with Tissue Tape. I then used a Size 5 tag that I coloured by dragging through Cracked Pistachio Distress Stain that I applied to my craft sheet. I used the same embossed method as before to create the gold finish around the edge before mounting a stamped image over the top. I then attached the tag to my board, together with some of Tim Holtz's Pocket Cards.
I then wanted to add and build up some more layers and texture and decided to use the gorgeous new dies from Tim. First, I die cut the feathers duo and then embossed them with the Texture Fade. I painted each feather with a blend of Peacock Feathers and Shabby Shutters Distress Paint and dried them with a heat tool. To bring out the veins in the embossed areas, I added a small amount of Picket Fence over the top using my fingertip.
I then used the Butterfly Duo die to die cut one of the butterflies twice and once again, embossed them with the matching Texture Fade. I coloured each of these using Abandoned Coral and Barn Door Distress Paint. I tipped the wings with more of the gold foil and then, layered the first butterfly with the gold tips over the top of the second die cut and added a Pen Nib to the centre.
I added the butterfly together with feathers and secured them into place. I also added an ephemera piece and various pieces of idea-ology to the arrangement ~ all the idea-ology is coloured with Treasure Gold to give a more vintage rusty look.

For my final embellishment, I used one the circular die from the Scribbles and Splats die set and die cut a piece of card coloured with Distress Inks. I added touches of gold foil to the die cut and then tucked it into place.
As a finishing touch, I added some studs in each corner and small crystal embellishments.

Now all that's left for me to do is hang this in pride of place and clip my reminders onto the board which means *fingers crossed*, I will never forget a due date ever again!
I really hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and love the finished clipboard. Holiday Card ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello and welcome to a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

This week's challenge is all about Holiday Cards and we can't wait to see what you are making and sending to loved ones and friends this year!

Now, I will admit even though I do try to make all my own cards, there are times when try as I might, life takes over and I don't always manage to make them but the one thing that I do ensure that I make are those special cards for family and this, is one of those cards. I hope you love it...
To begin with I created my circular card blank from cutting out two 18cm circles from kraft card and attaching them at the back by scoring a small section at the top of the circle and creating a hinge. Once that is done, I inked the edges of the card with Picket Fence Distress Paint and added a small amount of Antiqued Bronze for a distressed, vintage feel.

I then cut a circle of Manila card, 14cm in diameter. I swiped the cardstock through Evergreeen Bough and Picket Fence Distress Stain that I applied to my craft sheet, picking up all the ink before heat drying my background.

When the background was dry, I inked up the deer stamp from the Styled Woodlands stamp set using Potting Soil Archival Ink and stamped the image directly onto my background.
Ink the edges of the card with Evergreen bough Distress Ink and then to create the snow effect, I applied Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste through the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil and then added small sequins for sparkle.
I mounted my background onto a matt of decorative paper from the Motif paper stash which I lightly inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink, followed by a matt of Core'dinations card and mounted them onto the front of my circular card.

Now, it's time to decorate and for the layered snowflake, I used the Stacked Snowflake die to die cut Grungeboard, painted the die cuts with Picket Fence and Tumbled Glass Distress Paint before adding a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint over the top. Once the paint is dry and the crackles have appeared, apply some Tumbled Glass Distress Stain and allow it to seep into the cracks. Layer the snowflakes up using foam pads and attach it to the front of your card and place a Dewdrop, coloured with Aqua Alcohol Ink in the centre of the snowflake.

Die cut some Holiday Greens and some leaves and sprigs from the Festive Greenery Strip die, using Kraft Core Nostalgic cardstock and then spritz with Picket Fence Distress Stain for an frosty feel to the foliage. Add the foliage to your card, together with red pearls to give the appearance of berries.
Finally, add a word band to the bottom of your card, layering it over the top of some cheesecloth and attaching paper string to either end of the metal embellishment.

...and that completes my Christmas card tutorial which I really hope you've enjoyed!

Don't forget that if you're looking for some more great ideas and inspiration for this challenge, then you need to look no further than the blog to see all the wonderful creations from all the very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember blog hop! The Monday Challenge blog team has a fabulous hop for you all to join in with and it all starts, HERE on Andrea's blog!
Simon Says Stamp was founded in 2002 with an interest in exclusively selling rubber stamps. It didn’t take long until we realized we couldn’t stop there. For more than 10 years we have celebrated rubber stamping and its glory. We work to bring companies from around the world together in a one stop shopping environment. Rubber stamps still remain the heart of our business and we are celebrating by hosting a “STAMPtember®" event intended to inspire, educate, and celebrate the delight of rubber stamping. Part of the enticement of rubber stamping is that stamps can be used in creating or complementing ANYTHING! From stamping dates on bank documents and postage parcels in the early 18th century, rubber stamping has dramatically expanded to include card making, scrapbooking, mixed media and many forms of altering and expressing art.

So for this week's Monday challenge, we challenge you to....use any Simon Says Stamp Exclusive product and I couldn't resist using the gorgeous Sketched Alphabet stamp set. The font of this set is just beautiful and for my extra special card, I combined this stamp set with a Wendy Vecchi set.

To begin with I wanted to create the chalkboard background, so I took a piece of black card, die cut the top section of the card using the Torn Notebook On The Edge die and then, inked up the letters, "L.O.V.E" with a clear embossing ink pad and stamped them along the bottom section of my card. I then dusted Perfect Pearls over the top of the wet ink and gently brushed away the excess. The Perfect Pearls will stick to the wet ink to reveal the lettering but it will also give the dusty effect of a chalkboard. To create the polka dot background, I used the full stop from the stamp set, inked with a clear embossing ink pad and stamped it over my background. I then applied the Perfect Pearls over the top and dusted away the excess. After machine stitching around the edge of the card, I mounted it onto a piece of red cardstock, wrapped a piece of hand dyed ribbon around the matted card layers, securing the ends at the back and then attached the completed background to the front of my card blank.

Next, I inked up the image from Wendy's stamp set using black Archival Ink and stamped this onto watercolour card. I painted the image using Distress Marker Pens and used Tim's Ovals dies, to give me my lovely shaped topper. I used a black pen to add faux stitching around the outside, inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then attached this to my card front with foam pads.
I hand dyed some more ribbon using Distress Stains and tied this into a bow, attaching a brass key charm, which I coloured with Distress Paints.

To complete the card, I die cut two hearts from grungeboard, using Tim's Mini Hearts Movers and Shapers die and painted these with Festive Berries Distress Paint. I applied a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint over the top and once the paint was dry, I added a small amount of Fired Brick Distress Stain, to seep into the crackles to enhance them. I attached the hearts using foam pads and added an arrow adornment to the centre of the arrangement.
Finally, I added some corners from the Industrious Stickers, Frames and Trims pack.

I always think that it's nice to have the inside of my card decorated too and it also makes a nice surprise for the recipient.
For this particular card, I added a surprise message. I stamped the word, "YOU" and the polka dots onto black card, using the same technique of the embossing ink pad and Perfect Pearls, as I used on the front of the card. I then attached this onto the inside and added an arrow through the "O".

I hope you loved this card, as much as I loved creating it.
The next stop on this hop is the fabulous May Flaum
