Something New...

Hey everyone!

Happy New Year and welcome to a brand new year of challenges over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week, the theme is appropriately all about ~ Something New and the team are also showcasing some of Tim Holtz's fabulous products!

For my card project, I decided to use my favourite die, the Globe and mixing it with gorgeous metallics to create a card all about new adventures for a new year!

To begin with, I inked and distressed the edges of a piece of Correspondence paper and a piece of cream card stock using Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I matted the paper onto the card, wrapped some air mail paper string around the layers and then mounted it onto my kraft card blank. I then started work on my background for the globe and for this I cut a panel of glossy card stock and then applied Mushroom, Latte, Aqua and Gold Mixative Alcohol Ink to my craft sheet. Add a small amount of Blending Solution over the top of the inks and then swipe the card through to create a marbled background. Layer the Lace Layering Stencil over the top of your card and then apply some Transparent Texture Paste over the top ~ leave to dry.

Once completely dry, machine stitch around the outside edge with gold thread and matt onto a piece of gold Kraft Core Metallic Card Stock.
Mount the layers onto your covered card blank using foam pads.
Die cut the globe using more of the gold Metallic Kraft Core card stock  and alcohol ink the surface to give a more vintage look to the card.
Matt onto a gold Deco Sheet and then cut around the outline of the globe. Mount the globe onto the background card, attaching it at a slight angle and cutting away any of the die cut that overhangs the background. Layer some ephemera pieces over the top of the globe.
Use a small amount of Treasure Gold Gilding Wax to alter the colour of some Sprocket Gears and then add these to the arrangement.
Finally, I hung the airplane charm from the Souvenir Adornment set and once again, I coloured it with a little Treasure Gold Gilding Wax and attached it to the sprocket gears.
I then glittered some Signmaker Alpha Parts using the gorgeous Vintage Platinum Distress Glitter over a layer of Glossy Accents and attached these to my background.
For the final touch I added some Remnant Rubs and a Small Talk Sticker.
...and that completes my new card project for a new and hopefully, exciting year ahead!
