Dreaming Of A White Christmas

Hey everyone and welcome to a brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!

How are you all? Are you ready for Christmas or are you like me and just a tiny bit behind?!? I'm sure it will all come together on the big day but at the moment...I could do with an extra pair of hands, or make that a few extra pairs of hands and I might just get it all done on time!!

But if you do have a little time on your hands, then why not join us for this week's challenge ~ Winter Wonderland! This challenge will run for 2 weeks, so you have plenty of time to get toasty and warm and create something special over the festive season!

For my project, I decided to create a journal page full of wintery goodness, using lots of gorgeous tim Holtz products and who knows ~ hopefully, my dream of a white Christmas might come true but with temperatures as mild as they have been here in the UK, I think this could be the closest I'll get!!

...and here's how I created my winter wonderland!

To begin with I used the Dylusions Journal Book and added a good amount of Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Paint before spritzing it with water and letting the paints blend together. I do like a lot of white space on my pages, so I kept the outside areas clear of paint.

I then needed to create some layers of interest on the background and for this, I used some  torn pieces of tissue tape, which I added across the centre of the pages and a small piece in the top left hand corner.

At this stage I also applied texture paste through the Snowflakes Layering Stencil and allowed this to dry before spritzing the pages with some Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain.
I then flicked a small amount of Broken China Paint and Gold Color Bloom Spray across the pages  before drying everything off with a heat tool. Once dry, I inked up the Sparkles stamp with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and stamped them randomly over my page before finally adding some more ink through the Snowflake Stencil.
As a final touch and to create even more texture, I mixed some Glass Glitter and Micro Beads with some Soft Matte Gel and applied them all around the edges of the pages, using a palette knife. I then sprinkled some Sugar Glitter over the top.
Now to add my image and to begin with I took one of the Found Relatives photos and cut around the outline of the adorable skater boy. I attached him to my background by layering him over the top of some Woodland tree, die cut from Kraft Core'Dinations card which I sanded around the edges.
I  used Festive Ephemera pieces and some Industrious Border Stickers to complete the layering and tucked small pieces of cheesecloth behind him.
For the finishing touches, I alcohol inked some mirrored stars and added them and applied a Remnant Rub beneath his feet.

I was so pleased with this page and I love how it captured that icy, frozen feel of winter and I really hope you like it as much as I adored creating it to share with you all!
