Bewitched! 12 Tags of 2014 ~ October

Hello!

Just a flying visit from me today, to wish you all a very happy and safe Halloween!!

I couldn't let the month of October go by without joining in with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014. You can see Tim's version HERE and below is my interpretation of that fabulous tag! As always, I hope you love what I've created!
As you might have noticed, I did change quite a few things from Tim's tag but I did use the majority of  the techniques that Tim shows you to create the end result!

Thanks for stopping by today! It's going to be a busy day here, as I have food to prepare, dead man's fingers cupcakes to make and a pumpkin to carve ~ such fun!
See you soon and have a great evening!

Nothing Is Impossible

Hello everyone!

Hope you've all had a great week, so far! It's been glorious weather here in London and you might find this hard to believe but I actually managed to enjoy some of it because for the first time in, I don't know how long~ last week, I actually had 3 whole days where I didn't had to worry about deadlines or projects and even though it didn't last for long ~ it was lovely while it lasted!

Before I share today's post, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who stops by to leave a comment and to all my new followers! You always make my day with your lovely comments and your kind words and it really does make all the hard work that goes into each and every piece that I create so worthwhile! So, from the bottom of my heart ~ THANK YOU!

Right, back to today's post and I'm sharing a card that I created for the October issue of Making Cards Magazine. I still get such a buzz to see my projects in the magazine and when it comes to creating any project for them, I always try to make something a little different and love trying out new folds that I can bring to you all. This particular card is called a dutch fold card and it's such a great idea for those extra special cards that you want to make! Now, me being me...I don't do things by half and it wasn't good enough to just make the card, I wanted to do more and so, I made a special wallet for the card to fit inside. As always, I hope you love this project...

For those who might follow me on Pinterest, you will know that I have a couple of addictions in life, one being David Beckham and the other is that I adore Audrey Hepburn ~ she's my icon and when I saw this stamp by Deep Red Stamps, I just knew that I needed to use it but the one thing I didn't have was a quote! So, after much searching (and tearing my hair out) on the internet, I saw a stamp set by Lili of the Valley and lo and behold, it featured a quote from Audrey and worked so well!

The stamped image is stamped onto watercolour card and coloured with Distress Marker pens. I layered the image onto gorgeous papers by Authentique.
I created the wallet using more papers from Authentique Elegant Collection and added feathers, vintage seam binding and paper roses to complete the card.

So, that's it from me for today ~ thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a fabulous day!
See you soon...love Emma xxx

This Is A Treat ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

This week's challenge is called ~ THIS IS A TREAT! With Halloween just days away, and while we know not everyone will be celebrating surely you all like to be inspired by treats! From a sweet bag to making a crafty treat for a friend, making a candy inspired card or journaling about your favourite desserts ~ we can't wait to see what kind of a treat you are inspired to craft this week!

For my project this week, I decided to create some little cracker boxes using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and I will be filling them all with chocolate ready to give away for Halloween.
To begin with, and to make each individual treat box I cut a piece of black card to measure 6" x 6.5". I then spritzed each piece of card with Antiqued Bronze Distress Stain Spray and dried the card. I scored the card on the longest side at 1.5", 3", 4.5" and 6". Then, turn the card around and score the short sides 1" from each side.

Fold along each score line and then, starting at the opposite end to the ½" tab, line up the 5" side of the card at the 1" mark on the Envelope Punch Board and punch. Fold along each score line and punch a further four times, each time lining up the edge at the 1" mark on the board. Repeat on the opposite side.

Fold your box along each score line and place adhesive along the ½" tab section and secure with adhesive. Gently pinch one of the sides together and tie with ribbon or string. Fill the box before tying the second side together. For this I used Tim Holtz's Black and Cream Trimmings.
To decorate the boxes, (which you will find easier to do before sticking them together) I used Graphic 45 Eerie Tale papers, inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and placed them on all four sides of the box. I used more of the papers to create the paper rosettes that I die cut from the Paper Rosette Strip die by Tim Holtz and wrapped some tinsel twine around each of the rosettes before I attached them to the boxes.
To complete each box, I added bats and spiders again die cut from Grungeboard using Tim Holtz dies and then glittered by applying a layer of Glossy Accents onto each die cut and sprinkling Black Soot Distress Glitter over the top.
To complete the boxes, I attached Alpha Chips to spell out "BOO" before arranging them all into a basket.
As a finishing touch, I crackled a Glass Corked Vial, using Multi Medium and Rock Candy Crackle Paint and then added a small amount of Alcohol Ink to give that vintage touch to the glass. I used Remnant Rubs to decorate a Vial Label and then stamped the word Trick Or Treat onto inked card and attached it to the corked lid with a Memo Pin.

I really hope you'll pop over to see how I made my Trick Or Treat Candy Box and that you will be inspired to create one of your own ready for Halloween, next week. Box of Tricks ~ Anything Goes Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone!

It's the start of a new week and a brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and I think this week will be a popular one as it's ANYTHING GOES! No rules, just be creative and we can't wait to see what you make!

Me? Well, you know by now that I LOVE Halloween and as the 31st October approaches, I was in the mood to create another little project incorporating an ATB (Artist Trading Block) and all that's fun and spooktacular about this time of year! As always, I hope you love my box of tricks and I really look forward to reading all your comments!
So, how did I make it?
Well, to begin with I've used the wonderful Eileen Hull die to create an ATB which is the perfect base for all my decorations that I will be adding to it!
I cut a piece of card to size from the Tim Holtz Motif Resist cardstock pack, inked the pieces with Seedless Preserves, Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress Inks and then attached the individual pieces to each side of the block.

To complete the block and give it that real vintage feel, I added some box corners to each of the four corners on the base.
I then made a rosette using Tim Holtz's Rosette die and another strip of the Motif Resist cardstock inked with Distress Inks and added this to the front panel of my block.
Now for the fun part of decorating the top section and to begin with, I crackled three Corked Vial bottles using the Multi Medium and Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint method that Tim Holtz explains how to do, on page 54 of the Compendium of Curiosities Vol III. Once each bottle. Once the crackle had appeared, I then applied alcohol ink with a blending tool to each bottle to give a vintage, worn look before applying Remnant  Rubs to vial labels and adding them to each bottle.
I also used the same crackle method onto one of the corked dome before adding Distress Glitter and some of the Wishbones inside the dome and applying the "Bone Dust" Remnant Rub onto the outside.
I placed the bottles over the top of a piece of cheesecloth, which I dyed with Frayed Burlap Distress Stain and added some bats, (the die that I used is now unfortunately discontinued but any bat die will be perfect for this project) die cut from Grungepaper, painted with Black Soot Distress Paint and attached to wire. At this stage, I also added some black flowers to one of the bottles to look like they were in a vase but I tore away some of the petals and scattered them onto the finished arrangement.
The number "31" is from Tim's Letterpress Set and I added Wild Honey Distress Paint to accentuate the numbers before adding this to the top of my block. Finally, I added some Wishbones which I cut in half.
Finally, I used another of the die cut bats and placed this on the front of the rosette, and added one of the crossbones adornments to the centre.
...and that, completes my Halloween box of tricks!

O is for...October ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone!

Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend and you're ready for this week's brand new fun challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog!?! This week is all about "O Is For....".

So, what will you use? October Afternoon products? Be inspired by the number one? Create an ombre effect? Or just order lots of new exciting goodies to play with? Whatever you choose, we want to see what O means in your crafting!

For me? It was always going to be about O for October, and of course in October, we have Halloween and here's a card that I created using a combination of some gorgeous new, and some fabulous older Tim Holtz products. Isn't it funny how I can love using spiders and spiders webs in this context but absolutely run a mile if I'm ever faced with one in reality?!?!
To begin with, I took a piece of Manila cardstock 12 x17 cm in size and swiped it through some Seedless Preserves, Barn Door, Picket Fence, Dusty Concord and Brushed Pewter Distress Stains that I applied to my craft sheet and spritzed with water. After picking up all the stains and drying the card, I then went back to pick up the small droplets that remained to give the mottled effect that you can see on the background.

Next, I inked up the Spider's Web stamp with black Archival Ink and stamped it across the two corners of the inked card before stamping the Carved Spider stamp to hang down in between.
I then wanted to add another layer to the card and to do this, I used the Halloween Layering Stencil and applied Texture Paste through the stencil to create the "spider web" wording across the top.
After inking the edges of the card with Black Soot Distress Stain, I then aged them and slightly tore the card to give a vintage, distressed look before matting it onto purple cardstock.
Cut a piece of linen ribbon and once again, using Dusty Concord Distress Stain applied to my craft sheet, I dyed the ribbon purple and then wrapped it around the inked background, tying it into a bow to secure it into place. I then mounted the background onto black Core'dinations card and matted it onto my kraft card blank.
To create the bottles, I used the Apothecary Dies and die cut two bottles from Grungeboard. I painted each bottle with Picket Fence Distress Paint and then added some Antique Linen and Pumice Stone over the top to give an aged look to the bottles. Apply a layer of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint and leave to dry. Once the crackles have appeared, I then applied a small amount of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and allowed this to sink into the crackles before wiping away any excess, as I still wanted to have the bottle mainly white in colour!

I tied a small amount of black and white string around the necks of the dried bottles and then added them onto the front of my card blank, using foam pads to add dimension and then coloured the cork bottle tops using Gathered Twigs and Frayed Burlap Distress Paint and added these to the bottles.
I used Vial Labels, slightly inked with Black Soot Distress Ink and placed them on the front of each bottle and added a Remnant Rub.

To complete the card, I added some piece of Idea-Ology to the linen ribbon bow....
...and then attached a Hinge Clip to the side of the card, which I altered with Picket Fence Distress Paint and hung an Enameled Charm from the clip, painted with Seedless Preserves Distress Paint before using a white Remnant Rub over the top and finished it all off with a further Remnant Rub down the side of the inked background.
And that's how I created this spooky card and as always, I hope you love what I've made!
