A Day At The Races

It's been one of those crazy weeks and today, I seem to be running on empty and need to find some motivation. Maybe a frothy, double shot cappuccino, together with copious amounts of chocolate brownies would help!! Hey...it's worth a try...

I also think it would be nice to take some "time out" this weekend, go and explore some vintage shops in Notting Hill, followed by a trip to The Hummingbird Bakery or Freggo but that all depends on whether my Mum is well enough. She had to go back to the Doctors yesterday, as she became allergic to the medication they put her on for the infection. It's a vicious circle but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some improvement soon but for now, I'll continue to give lots of tlc.

Anyway, enough about me...here's my card, hope you like it...
The stamped image is just one of the many stamps you get in the Cavendish Ladies set by Kanban. For this card, I wanted to create a soft, elegant muted feel and decided to colour in the image using just the Grey collection of Promarkers and I absolutely love the way it turned out. This is when I think Promarkers actually do come into their own ~ I've only used one colour but by using different tones within that colour range, it gives such depth and wonderful shading to the finished image. The flowers are all die cut with the Spellbinders Flower Creations die, run through the Cuttlebug and using the same paper that I matted and layered onto the card blank. As final finishing touches I used a Martha Stewart border punch, to give an Art Deco feel to the edge of the card and added some card candy and a beautiful silver grey, floaty organza ribbon, tied into a bow.
So, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and if I do find time to explore London this weekend, you can be assured, I'll be taking my favourite bag... lots of love, Emma. xx

  1. You've given such an elegant feel to this card just using the greys - It's like an old black and white movie with all the different shades. The flowers and the border and fab too - absolutely love it! Have a fantastic weekend and I hope your mum gets better soon.

  2. oh lovely!!! it takes you back in time...a day at the races at Ascot...where all the ladies are dressed to the 9's...dressed to impress!

the muted colours and tones are perfect for the vintage theme of the card! and the little art deco like accents really help finish the card off nicely!

    Beautiful vintage card! :* <333
