Just to say hi!

It's another glorious day, here in London and spring is definitely in the air. So, what better way to celebrate the fact that the garden is bursting with colour and the leaves are starting to poke their way through on the trees...than to show off these lovely designs from The Crafthouse Press featuring Emma Thompson's illustrations of Dandelion. And before you ask, no...it's not the actress, Emma Thompson, this Emma is the fine artist and illustrator of children's books such as Felicity's Wishes, Isabella's Toybox and many more wonderful stories....

As soon as I saw these I fell in love with the cute little rabbit and the beautiful watercolour effect to the drawings. They just make such happy, spring-like cards.
To make this card, I diecut a piece of white card and a piece of the gingham backing paper, using the Spellbinders Nestabilites, large scalloped squares. I matted and layered both of these together and then covered the front of an C6 white card blank with the bright yellow star backing paper. Then, using a strong adhesive tape, I placed the scalloped square on the front of the card, slightly overlapping the top, to give a decorative look to the overall card and to make something a little bit more special than your normal C6 rectangular card.

Once that was done, I added Dandelion. When I decoupaged the little bunny, I used various depths of 3D foam, which then gives a nice dimension to the finished image.

As finishing touches, I added some paper flowers from DCWV in co-ordinating colours, popped some card candy into their centres and then, with a die cut scalloped oval, I stamped the message and finally added some ribbon.

  1. You have to admit, it would have spiced up matters had it been THE Emma Thompson who did some illustration on the side! o_O

but in addition to the wonderful little image, I LOVE the coulours you chose! Bright and fresh...just perfect for spring! and an especially nice touch with the big flowers and layering of the pedals with the die-cut oval!

    fabulous card, baby...well done! :* <333
