Hello creative friends and Happy Thursday!
It's blog hop time over on Simon Says Stamp and we are celebrating the Fun & Festive release! I'm so excited to be one of the stops on this hop and if you've been hopping along, you'll have arrived here from Karin's blog but if you've just popped by and want to join in then just head back to the beginning and Simon Says Stamp's Blog, to join the fun. We also have a special promotion running with this hop and all you have to do is use code: FEST587 to get a free gift of Festive Stickles, while stocks last! The code will expire on Sunday 14th October at 11:59pm ET.
Now for my card which I created using some of the products from this fabulous release and it's something a little bit different from me but I've still given it my vintage twist that I love so much and hope you enjoy how this came together....
To make this card, I began with my background and for this I cut a panel of Tim Holtz HeavyStock Mixed Media card to measure 12.5 x 14cm. I then inked up the Mod Trees Background stamp with Versamark Ink and stamped directly onto the surface of the card before sprinkling Ranger Ink Sage Metallic Embossing Powder over the wet ink and heat embossed the powder until molten and shiny.
I then inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, machine stitched a border and matted the panel onto kraft card, followed by a layer of Woodgrain Watercolour card inked with Ground Expresso Distress Ink and finally a layer of green Tim Holtz Classic Kraft card. I then mounted the layers onto a kraft card blank.
For my adorable little teddy bear, I used the Picture Book Bear to die cut watercolour card ~ this creates a wonderful texture to the image and the appearance of it being furry. I inked the various sections of die cut card using Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress Oxide Ink Pads for the main part of his face, Antique Linen for his snout, with a touch of Spun Sugar on his cheeks and Spun Sugar for his ears. His eyes and nose are coloured with Black Soot Distress Paint and then highlighted with a white pen. I also added little freckles with a Dylusions black paint pen.
Once the bear was ready and assembled, I attached him to my card using foam pads for dimension and then added a little bow tie around his neck ~ just because no well dressed bear should be without his tie for Christmas. I created the bow using the Tim Holtz Folded Bow Die from Sizzix and used red classic kraft card. After placing the bow into position, I then attached some green buttons, which I stitched with cotton to look as if they were sewn on.
For a sentiment I used the Merry Christmas die to die cut red Classic Kraft card and added this down the side of the card.
To complete my card I added some pearls and crystal gems to the background and clipped a tim Holtz idea-ology Hinge Clip onto the side, which I painted with Festive Berries Distress Paint. I then took a Christmas Typed Token, altered with a little Picket Fence Distress paint to accentuate the number 25 and attached this to the clip.
...and that completes my card for this Fun & Festive Blog Hop and I hope you've enjoyed reading the creative process of how this fun and supercute piece came together! Don't forget that we would love for you to share your work in our Fun & Festive Gallery and can't wait to see what you make using the products.
