Queen For The Day!

"It would be nice, if something made sense for a change" ~ Alice, Alice In Wonderland

The weekend is upon us already and maybe this weekend, I'll get time to indulge in some winter clothes shopping and be able to find some time for a long walk in the park. I love it, when the leaves start to fall and you can hear them crunch underfoot...perfect!!

So back to today's share, and it's another card using the stamps from that fabulous Alice In Wonderland set from TJ Designs. I told you I loved them and when I get something that I love, it's always a pleasure to use and work with.
So, this card is really all about the folds. As you can see, it's not your average card and to make these folds, I used a template from B-Craft-E and a piece of A4 white card. Yes, it's as easy as that!! If you've never seen Kim Sutton's fabulous range of templates...go straight to the website, now! There's is a wonderful selection of easy to use templates, which just take your crafting to another level. The image of Alice was stamped onto some white digital cardstock from Craftwork Cards, which I die cut using a Spellbinders Nestie die. I used Promarker pens to colour the image in and Distress Inks around the edges for that aged look. The papers I used here are from K and Company and as final touches, I added ribbon, adhesive pearls and stamped some flourishes.
I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing weekend and enjoy whatever you are doing!!

Curiouser and Curiouser

"I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date...no time to say hello, goodbye, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late"
~White Rabbit, Alice In Wonderland

As soon as I saw this set of stamps, I just knew I'd love working with them. I've always had a fascination with Alice In Wonderland, it's one of my favourite books and I absolutely adore the Walt Disney 1951 film version, with a particular soft spot for the White Rabbit. So, today I'm sharing this card with you featuring just two of a set of character stamps from TJ Designs and bought from Scrapshed.
I wanted to make a card that integrated various elements from the stories. So, I used some old playing cards, including the Queen of Hearts and a beautiful white satin ribbon to represent Alice's bow on her dress. The papers are some stunning handmade papers that I bought a while ago from Costco and until now, they've been sitting a box, in the craft room, where I stroke, look but never use them!! The actual stamped image, which I hope you can see in the photos, is tripled enamelled using ultra thick embossing powder. It's a long process but it's worth taking the time to do and it gives a beautiful effect. Once the embossed image has cooled and hardened, I then matted and layered it onto some mirri card and a piece of white card, which I embossed through the Sizzix using one of Tim Holtz's embossing folders. Finally, I stamped a quote onto a tag and attached this to the ribbon.
Right, I'm off into the kitchen to give Nigella a run for her money, lol...and cook some Italian food for tonight's dinner. Hope you are all having a fab week and a big hello to all my new followers, thanks for stopping by...
