Fab 50's

Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments you left on my last post. I really do appreciate all your visits and the time you take to read all my blog posts ~ it always makes all the hard work that goes into each piece so worthwhile!

Today is a flying visit, I've got numerous projects to make and deadlines are looming...in fact, I daren't look at my "to-do" list, it might send me into fright mode, lol!! But I did want to pop by and welcome my new followers ~ *hello* and to share a card that I made for the September issue of Making Cards Magazine. I was commissioned to create a design with a difference and this, is what I came up with. A 7" record sleeve, complete with "vinyl"! As always, I hope you love it...

My inspiration behind this card was my love of vinyl, (yep...I'm afraid what little space isn't taken up with crafting is taken up with vinyl!!!) and Jen Long's recent release of 1950's dies for Sizzix. I used one of these die sets to decorate the front of my card, together with some shapes that I drew and cut myself.

The beautiful car is die cut from Craftwork Cards pearl card and layered with brushed silver card.
I used glitter card for the stars and added all the elements to a background of polka dot paper from Inspire Me.
The vinyl which pulls out of the sleeve is a circle of black card, mounted on black mirri card. I punched a hole in the centre and stamped it with Tim Holtz's Tall Text stamps. To complete the card, I added an easel at the back so that it would be freestanding.
Right, my break time is over and my coffee has been finished...
Thanks again for stopping by today and I'll see you soon!

Hope you had a lovely weekend and ready for another creative week ahead!!

It's just a quick post from me today and as promised, after my little teaser of the projects on Saturday, I wanted to share with you the rest of the Easter projects that I made for Sizzix. If you would like a tutorial, written by yours truly, of how I made these cards and to also sign up for Sizzix newsletters, then please click HERE. As you can see from all my pics, there's plenty of ideas including a little box for those precious choccie eggs, Easter egg hunt clue cards and some more cards. As always, I hope you like them!!!

Okey dokey, time for me to go and have another coffee before writing some instructions for a forthcoming magazine project in Making Cards!!

Just before I go, I wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone who has left me a message asking how I am!! I'm getting there frustratingly slowly, still suffering the after effects of a cracked rib and pleurisy but the painkillers do help and I have had very, VERY small spurts of crafting but these did give me a huge boost. But what I will say is...I'm determined to be back to normal, if I ever was ~ lol, ASAP!! Thank you for continued support of my blog and all my work...it does mean so much to me and I'm sorry that I haven't been visiting your blogs to leave comments but I do see all your lovely creations and I love them all!!

See you all soon with something that I really hope you'll like and come back to see...bye for now!

A Joyous Easter...

Hello everyone!! Hope you're all had a fabulous week and now, ready to enjoy the weekend!!

I'm just dropping by today with a quick post and to say a big hello to everyone, let you know I'm still here and to say thank you for all your messages and comments on my last post.

So, I'm sure that no-one can fail to notice that, despite the weather ~ Easter is nearly upon us and way back at the beginning of the year I was asked by Sizzix if I would like to work on a set of Easter projects! Well, of course I said...YES and today, I can start revealing the first of those projects. There will be more to come over the coming days but if you would like to find out how I made these projects and have a little sneaky peek of what else I made...then just click HERE!!
For this set of projects, I was asked if I could create them using gorgeous pastel shades and of course, some fabulous Sizzix dies, including some designed by Tim Holtz and Paula Pascual. The colour choice they showed me, reminded me of Sugared Almonds and as soon as I was told which colours they wanted me to use...I headed over to Inspire Me Papers and I chose and put together this wonderful pastel collection of their stunning card and papers...

So, I really hope that I've inspired you to create some Easter projects of your own and I hope you will pop back over the coming days to see what else I created!!
Until then...have a fabulous weekend ~ bye for now!

Ring of Flowers...

“I must have flowers, always, and always.” ― Claude Monet

Good morning everyone and hello to all my new followers who have joined my blog since I last posted. Welcome aboard and hope you enjoy the ride...

Today, I'm sharing a project that I made for Sizzix for them to use as wall art for part of their fabulous display at Stitches. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it this year but I've seen the photos and if you were one of the lucky people who attended, you will know exactly what I mean about their stunning stand...it was fabulous!!!

I was given a colour theme to work to and of course, dies to work with but the rest was up to my imagination and this is the first of two projects that I made. As always, I hope you like it and it inspires you

You probably can't tell from these photos but these are large...they're actually 10 x 10" and used in frames in the Sizzix House.
The dies I used are:
Sizzlits Die Set 3PK - Decorative Flourishes Set
Bigz Die - Flower Layers w/heart Petals
Framelits Dies Set 6PK w/stamps - Flowers, Scallop
Tim Holtz - Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die
All dies and many more, available from Sizzix

Papers are from Inspire Me

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look a what I've created and at the moment, while I recuperating, I'm busy making lists of new projects that I want to create...so be warned that once I get back to normal, I will be back with a vengeance. Until then, thank you so much for all your get well messages, I really do appreciate them all!!

See you tomorrow with the second of my Sizzix projects...

Symphony In Black

Hello, everyone and thank you, so much for all your lovely comments on the cards that I posted last week. I was really overwhelmed with them and it really does mean so very much to me, to know that all my friends took time out of their busy schedules to tell me, that they liked them.

So, this is the start of another week and has already been quite eventful. At the moment, I'm working on some more samples for the next Clarity show on Create and Craft, on April 3rd. I've also received some gorgeous pens from the lovely people at Kuretake, this morning and I'm frantically trying to make some cards for them, with a deadline of Friday!!!!

That's not to mention that I've got my Mum's birthday to organise for the weekend and a cake to bake...will I do it?? *Mission Impossible music starts to play*...I'll let you know... lol

But before the mayhem broke loose, I did manage to make this card...I hope you like it!

I'm actually a very big fan of the work of the artist Erté and this is my favourite illustration of his. So, when I was browsing through The Craft Barn the other day and saw this fabulous stamp from Katzelkraft, I just knew it would find it's way into my shopping basket and I wasn't disappointed when it finally arrived ~ I love it!!!

I know that this is the most popular of all his artwork but I think you can tell why...it's just so simple, elegant and depicts the Art Deco era perfectly and I really hope I've done this image and Erté justice with my card!

The papers that I used are from Inspire Me and I coloured the image with Promarker Pens, adding highlights of Stickles glitter glue.

Well, I'd better get back to stamping and also playing Florence Nightingale to my Mum, who isn't very well, at the moment.
I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!
See you soon...

Always Look On The Bright Side of Life

To say it's been one of those days, is a slight exaggeration. For the last week, I've worked hard to finish some card samples to meet the deadline of tomorrow. And last night, I finally finished them and relaxed, knowing they were all done and ready to go.

Well, that was before disaster struck in the form of my Mum and a cup of coffee. Yup, I'll let you all piece the rest together but needless to say...I've spent all day trying to sort out the mess!

Anyway, as my Nan always said...there's worse things that happen at sea and it couldn't be helped!! These things happen, but I won't be letting my Mum anywhere near the samples from now on!

So, before I go back to work...I thought I would share these little treats with you.
I made these for my Christmas Eve table and will be filling them with little presents for everyone. I'm so pleased with how they turned out, they'll be absolutely perfect for my decorative needs!

So, I hope you're all having a good week so far and that everyone is keeping warm and cosy!
Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my lil creations!

A Winter Rose

I wanted to share something a little bit different and special with you all today...and some of you might remember that I showed you a teeny tiny, sneaky peek last week of this project.

As some of you know, even before I was lucky enough to work with the wonderful decoupage images from The Crafthouse Press, I've always loved Suzanne Woolcott's Gorjuss illustrations. There is just something so endearing about them and something that totally appeals to the artistic side of me and because I always see like to think of what I do as little works of art...I decided to do something different and use the decoupage images to make a wall hanging and here it is....
I think that the Winter Decoupage kits were absolutely stunning and probably my favourite so far and together with some handmade roses, using templates and paper products from Inspire Me, I was over the moon with how this turned out and I'm really proud of this and couldn't wait to show you all and hope that the photos do it justice. I really wanted to show everyone the dimension in this piece.
And finally, here it is hanging in pride of place...
So, hope you all had a fabulous weekend and thanks for stopping by to take a look at my work. It's always lovely to get your comments and to welcome new followers!!
Love to you all...
Emma
