Hi everyone and welcome to a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week, our theme is PET'S CORNER and we would love it if you play along with this fun challenge showcasing some of our furry friends.
Because I don't own a pet, I had to adopt one especially for this challenge and what better than one of those crazy dogs, who I named ~ Lucky!! I just couldn't resist making this fun card and of course, I had to go with my favourite from the set ~ I just adore his expression!
So, it's time for this week's brand new challenge and here's how I made this card...
To begin with I cut a panel of watercolour card, 13 x 16cm and misted it lightly with water to dampen the fibres. I then misted Mustard Seed Distress Stain over the top before drying the card thoroughly.Once dry, I then wanted to add some more colour and for this, I used PaperArtsy Infusions. I sprinkled the smallest amount of Golden Sands and Sunset Beach over the top of my stained card and then misted the Infusions with water, allowing the colour to magically start to appear and blend into the card.
After another blast of heat, I had my basic background and was now ready to add some texture.
To begin, I placed the Bricked Layering Stencil over the top of the the background card and applied Grit Paste directly onto the background. Leave to dry naturally or gently use your heat tool, being careful not to overheat and bubble the paste. Once dry, add some more texture to the surrounding areas using the Splatters Layering Stencil and again dry.
I then needed to add some colour to the stencilled areas and for this, I used my trusty Distress Crayons, adding layers of Mustard Seed, Pumice Stone and Spiced Marmalade to the wall and splatters. Once I was happy with the colour, I then used dry brushed some gesso over the top.
Add a few gesso paint splatters, together with some Black Soot Distress Paint Splatters and dry.
To add some more texture to the background, I applied a small amount of Grit Paste around the edges of the card and once the paste was dry, just ran the Pumice Stone Crayon around the edge and blended it with my finger. I matted the background onto gold metallic kraft card, followed by a layer of Black Soot Kraft Stock.
Before I mounted the matted layers onto a kraft card blank, which I distressed with a small amount of gesso to the edges, I wrapped some twine around the bottom section of the layers and secured it with a bow, also adding a Typed Token coloured using Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Picket Fence Distress Crayons!
The cute pup is stamped onto watercolour card using Jet Black Archival Ink and then water coloured with Distress Marker Pens...
...before being die cut with the corresponding Sizzix Crazy Dogs die. I also stamped, coloured and die cut the bowl and the bones.
I attached my die cuts to the background using foam pads
To complete my card, I added one of the new quote chips, mounted onto gold metallic kraft card.
