A Life Story...

Hello everyone and welcome to a very special post from me today...

Back at the end of November, I received a really exciting email ~ I'd been invited by Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink to be a part of this year's Ranger 2017 Designer Challenge at Creativation (formerly known as CHA) and I can't begin to tell you how thrilled and honoured I was to have been chosen for this!!

The theme was the Evolution of Distress and I had been assigned Distress Crayons, so once all the excitement had sunk in and I had stopped pinching myself, I started to think what I would create for this piece and this, is the project I designed....
I chose to go with a vintage feel...full of layers, texture, vintage ephemera and rusty elements that would compliment the photo of the gorgeous little girl and the little boy all dressed up in his sailor's uniform and I just built up the imagery that I had in my head of these children who were experiencing a moment in their life story and the memories that they would take from this adventure.
As you can see, I added lots of detail to this piece and I also used some of the new dies that were released at the show including the Industrial die which I just loved and will be showing you a piece that I made with that very soon!
There is also lots of texture on this and I loved the way the crayons bought this to life!

...and of course, the hero of this piece was always going to be about the Crayons and I used these in many different ways ~ on the background to created that beautiful blue and hints of rust, I used the crayons to colour my metal Industrial die pieces and I used the crayons to add highlights around each of the layers and to the corrugated card.
I even used them to add more colour to the alcohol inked quote band!
I really hope you've enjoyed this look around my Etcetera Tag and you loved the finished piece! This has been like a dream come true for me and to be featured alongside my friends, Paula, Kaz, Kath, Zoe and of course Tim...was just the best feeling in the world!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and see you soon with another creation from the show!
Love Emma xx
