Stamp & Punch ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hey everyone and welcome to a brand new week over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!

This week we challenge you to Stamp and Punch! Whether you use a die cut with co-ordinating stamp, use a paper punch on a background stamp, or stamp a pre-made diet shape, this week we want to see your projects that feature a punch or a die cut with a stamp!!

As many of you know we're all celebrating Stamptember at Simon Says Stamp and I chose to use one of the many gorgeous SSS products as the focal point to my canvas! When I first saw the Explore Nature stamp and die set, I immediately fell in love with them and after a visit to a local interiors store, I decided to create a piece of home decor inspired by the style of Eloise Renouf!

Hope you love this piece and enjoy how I made it...

I began with a canvas that measured 7" x 5" and applied a coat of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint over the surface. Once the paint was completely dry, I dry brushed some Picket Fence over the top to create a more linen like texture to the canvas. I added some torn Tissue Tape to the painted canvas and then set it aside to work on the next part.

For this section, I took a slightly smaller panel of canvas and mixed Pumice Stone and Picket Fence Distress Paint together to give me a pale stone colour before painting this onto my canvas. Once the surface was dry, I then took the Mesh Layering stencil and placed it centrally onto my panel. I applied Texture Paste through the stencil and allowed to dry before flicking Black Soot and Fossilized Amber over the background.

Now to add my embellishments and for this I began by using the solid leave shapes from the stamp set and stamping them onto white card using the Willow, Orange Peel and Lake Shores SSS Ink Pads. I stamped the green and orange leaves twice each to give me a double layered embellishment and the blue leaves three times each to give me a triple layered embellishment!
I then over stamped each block section with the veins using Wendy Vecchi's Watering Can ink before die cutting each leaf. I then layered the leaves over the top of one another using foam pads before attaching them onto my canvas panel, placing them about a third from the bottom.
Wrap a piece of linen ribbon around the panel and secure the ends at the back and then stamp the message onto white card. Ink around the edges of the card and matt onto kraft card before attaching below the line of leaves.
I then mounted the canvas panel onto the larger painted panel using foam pads.
Next, I cut two further strips of ribbon and tied these into a couple of bows which I attached to either side of my panel.
To complete my piece of home decor, I added a hinge clip to the top of the smaller panel, some wooden dots from my stash and finally finished the project with some Hitch Fasteners attached to the top of the larger canvas.
I've added my canvas to a small easel which I painted white and now just need to find somewhere to display it but hope you enjoyed the creative process of how I made this piece...
As always, if you need any further inspiration for this challenge, then you need look no further than our blog to see all the wonderful creations from all the very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. 9. I love this piece and as always, those details that you've included inspire me! I love how you did the ribbon and have bows coming off of each end. Totally rustic, yet elegant and fresh at the same time. Speaking of interior design, if your living space is anything like your art, I bet it is flippin' amazing! I'd probably never want to leave home, but would just stare at my rooms all day! :)
