Hey everyone!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and looking forward to the week ahead!
Today, we have a brand new challenge starting over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week is called ~ "LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE"!
When it comes to stamping we all have a lot of favourite techniques, from stamping with mist to embossing and so much! This week we want you to share a project that features one of your favourite techniques...
For my project, I thought I would make a start on my Halloween decorations and with so many wonderful new seasonal products being released this year, how could I not use the fabulous Undertaker stamp set on my hanging wall panel where I also combine two stamping techniques!
So without further ado....
and here's how I made this spooky wall hanging!
To begin with, I cut a piece of white card stock to measure 11.5 x 16cm and using Jet Black Archival Ink, I stamped the image of the Undertaker onto the centre of the card. Whilst the ink was still wet, I sprinkled over some clear embossing powder and then heat embossed until molten and glossy.
To create the background, I began by creating a mask that would cover the image of the undertaker and stamped a second image onto a piece of copy paper. Cut this image out and place directly over the top of the previously stamped image on your card. Ink up one of the ledger stamps with clear embossing ink and stamp directly onto the card, over the top of the masked image. Heat emboss with clear powder to create a resist for the next stage.
Remove the mask from the card and then using Ripe Persimmon, Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint, blend the Distress Ink over the surface of the card. When happy with the colours, I then spritzed the ink with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist, gave it all a blast of heat to thoroughly dry the card and then replaced the mask over the skull image and flicked Black Soot Distress Paint over the top.
Once again remove the mask and then colour the image with Distress Marker pens. Mount the completed card onto kraft card and distress the edge of the card.
For the Happy Halloween message, I inked up a smaller piece of card, using the same colours as on the main section and again spritzed with Perfect Pearls. I then stamped the wording in black ink, heat embossed with clear powder and mounted the card onto a piece of kraft card, which I had already distressed around the edges.
To embellish my piece I added a bough of some die cut Tiny Tattered Florals cut from the Nostalgic Kraft Core Core'Dinations card and placed a Rest In Peace small talk sticker over the top.
I also added a tiny vial ~ I aged the glass with Mushroom Alcohol Ink and then added a small amount of Festive Berries Re-Inker into the bottle to look like blood. I completed the bottle with some twine around the neck and added a vial sticker and remnant rub.
To complete my hanger, I mounted each section onto a piece of chipboard, that I cut slightly larger than the card. I painted the chipboard with a layer of gesso before covering it with Black Soot Distress Paint. I wanted to created a more work look to the background and for this I used a dry brush and applied long brush strokes of Brushed Pewter over the top.
Finally, I attached the two sections together by punching small holes and using some chain, which I also used as the hanger that I attached to the top section of my panel using Hitch Fasteners to hold it in place.
I really hope you've been inspired by some of the techniques I've used on this piece and hope that you'll play along with our fun challenge!
