Also, because this is an extra special occasion, this week Simon Says Stamp will be giving away two $50 gift vouchers, not just the usual one and we hope you'll join us for all the fun!
So, without further ado...
...and here's how I created by card!
To begin with, I took a piece of watercolour card, 17cm square and started by spritzing the card with a light misting of water. I then spritzed the background with Scattered Straw and Spun Sugar Distress Spray Stains. The water that you have on your card, allows the stain to move around creating a splash of watercolor on the background.
Heat dry the card and then I attached a few pieces of torn tissue tape to the centre of the card. Apply some texture paste through the Latticework stencil and again, dry thoroughly before moving onto the next stage. Using the same stains as before, spritz once more over the paste and again dry.
When the background is completely dry, I then dry brushed some Gold Rush Alchemy paint over the surface, before adding a small amount of Picked Raspberry Distress Crayon over the top. After machine stitching around the edge. Flick Black Soot and Picked Raspberry Distress paint over the background and I also added a small amount of Gesso. I now have my background which I then matted onto pink card, followed by the copper metallic kraft core card before mounting onto an 8" square card blank!
Now for the added sparkle and for this, I used the Party Circle die to die cut a piece of thick card. I then pounced a Versamark Ink Pad over the top of the die cut and sprinkled with Sticky Embossing Powder. Heat the powder gently, DO NOT OVERHEAT as you won't get the glitter to stick and then I sprinkled Vintage Distress Glitter over the top, tapping away the excess.
I stuck the die cut to a circular piece of card, coloured with the same colours as I used on the main background and then matted it onto pink card before attaching the die cut using foam pads onto my card.
Now for my party animal and for this I used a Crazy Cat and also the balloons from the Crazy Things stamp set.All the elements were stamped onto watercolour card and coloured with Distress Marker pens before using the corresponding dies to die cut the images which I then attached to my card, together with a linen bow, dyed with Picked Raspberry Distress Spray Stain. I also added some Floristry Sisal fibres, for a bit of added texture.
As you can see, I also added a small amount of cheesecloth which I dyed with Distress Stain beneath the feet of the cat and sprinkled some glass glitter over the top.
For the finishing touch, I added a Small Talk Sticker which was absolutely perfect for my party animal and some gold sequins from the 28 Lilac Lane Neutrals Sequin Tin.
...and that completes my card, with a party animal full of sparkle and shine!
