Ticket To The World ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hey everyone and welcome to a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and this week we want you to show us your "TICKETS PLEASE"!!

Design Team member Sandra challenges us to show our tickets. From trains to concerts to planes, stamps to paper ~ we can't wait to see what you make!

For my project I was inspired by a vintage image of a sailor and created a canvas telling a story of his ticket to the world. As always I hope you love what I've created and that you'll enjoy my creative process...
To begin with I took an 8" square canvas and then used the Block Talk die to die cut some letters from chipboard to spell out the words "world ticket". I added the letters to my canvas and then covered the entire surface, including the lettering in PaperArtsy Chalk Paint. I then added a dry wash of Pumice Stone Distress Paint over the to create a worn look to the canvas. I outlined each of the letters using Hickory Smoke Distress Marker Pen, slightly smudging the ink with my finger.

When the surface was thoroughly dry I used a paint brush to flick small amounts of Broken China and Antiqued Bronze Distress Paint and again dried the paint thoroughly before moving onto the next stage.

To complete the canvas, I added some Texture Paste through the Chevron stencil and stamped directly onto the background with the Type stamp and then added some Correspondence Tissue Tape around each of the four edges.

Now comes the fun part of building up the canvas and this is all about layers...I love layering elements to create dimension and to create texture and this piece features layer upon layer upon layer!
To begin with I used the Ticket Die to die cut a piece of Manila card and inked the surface of the card with Vintage Photo and Old Paper Distress Ink. I added some Remnant Rubs down the side of the ticket and distressed the edges before attaching it to my canvas.
I then added the die cut globe to my canvas which was die cut from white card and coloured with Fossilised Amber and Broken China Distress Spray Stain. All the layers are built up with foam pads, to give added height and definition.

I layered some die cut clouds cut from Deco Sheets and also added a die cut Gadget Gear, cut from card covered with metal foil tape and given the vintage feel with some alcohol ink.
The next part was to add some wording and to create the story of this sailor and to begin with I placed a Big Chat sticker inside a corked vial which was coloured with alcohol ink to give a more aged look. I tied some twine to the bottle neck before attaching it to my canvas using Glossy Accents.
I also used a flash card and added a small talk chit chat sticker, which I mounted onto a alpha part arrow, coloured with Fossilised Amber, Broken China and Antiqued Bronze Distress Paints.
Finally I needed to add the storyteller and his photo, which came from the Vintage Photo Booth set. I distressed the edges of the image and then framed it with some wire thread that I coiled around a bottle to create a circular shape before buckling it slightly to make it less uniform in it's shape.
As a finishing touch I added some Sprocket Gears that I altered with the same colours of Distress Paint that was used on the arrow and popped a mirrored star onto the ticket.
...and that completes my canvas and this week's project, which I hope you enjoyed as much as I enjoyed making it!
