Let's Go To The Hop...

 Hello friends...

As another week flies by, it's time to say hello to a new month on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and a brand new theme to kick start April.

This week, we challenge you to make something for EASTER or SPRING and hope you will join us and play along. The DT are showcasing PaperArtsy products within their makes which is something you don't have to do, but if you want to ~ then that would be fantastic to see!

For my make, I used a combination of old, and brand new dies from Tim Holtz and Sizzix to make a card that features the adorable bunny from the Bunny Games die surrounded by toadstools and his prize Easter egg that he's found on the Easter hop.

So let's get started, and here's how I created this week's make!

BACKGROUND and PANELS

To begin with I started with the background and cut a panel of Distress Watercolor Card to measure 12.5 x 17.5cm. After spritzing the card with a light mist of water, I sprinkled PaperArtsy Sleight Blue and Are You Cerise? Infusions onto the damp card, concentrating on the middle section of the panel, leaving white space around the outside.

You don't need a lot of these crystals, so sprinkle with care and build up the intensity gradually. At this stage, I repeated the process onto a smaller panel of the cardstock, 9.5 x 8cm and this will be used later for the sentiment.

I then spritzed some more water over the top and watched those crystals explode into action and create the background.

I machine stitched a border around the outside before matting the panel onto a piece of blue kraft stock, taken from the Cool Kraft Stash. I then used foam pads to mount the panels onto a layer of patterned paper from my stash and finally, a panel of Fog cardstock, each time leaving a border showing around the edge.

I mounted the panels onto the front of my card blank and set this to one side to move onto the sentiment banner.

BANNER

For the sentiment, I used the brand new Bold Tidings 2 die that you might've seen in Tim's YouTube Live on Saturday. For the full release and catch up, click HERE!

I cut the wording into a panel of Distress Watercolor Card, 9 x 7.5cm. Make sure you keep the letters that pop out of these panels as they can be used on other projects, and don't even have to be used as the words ~ you can use the individual letters to make your own sentiments.

I inked the panel with a little Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen Distress Ink, before spritzing with water, allowing the inks to blend and puddle to create a more vintage feel to the card surface.

Once again I machine stitched around the edge of the panel before I adhered this panel onto the second piece of infusion stained card from earlier. To complete the panel, I attached a small Hex Fastener to each corner.

I mounted my sentiment onto the top section of the card blank, using foam pads

BUNNY GAMES

We're now ready to create the little scene that sits at the bottom of the card and started by making my bunny using the Bunny Games Thinlits die set. I only used the sitting bunny for this card, and it from watercolour card and then inked the various pieces using Antique Linen and Pumice Stone Distress Inks for the body and the pink areas are inked with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry. The facial details are cut from Black Kraftstock.

I drew tiny whiskers on to the face, and added whites to his eyes.

Assemble the bunny and set to one side.

TOADSTOOLS

For the toadstools I used the Sizzix Funky Foliage Thinlits Die Set by Tim Holtz and once again, I cut my various pieces from watercolour card.

I then inked each piece using the following Distress Inks and spritzed with a light mist of water to blend the colours:

CAPS: Candied Apple, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany

STALKS: Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Ground Espresso

Once my pieces were all ready, I assembled them to make three separate toadstools.

EASTER EGG

The little Easter Egg is from the Papercut Chicks Die Set and as with all my pieces, I cut this from the watercolour card. I inked the die cuts with Speckled Egg Distress Ink and splattered the surface with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to create the speckled egg surface. I layered each of the pieces to create my egg.

GRASSY MOUND

The grassy mound is cut using the Papercut Chicks die set and inked with a combination of Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint before being layered to make the little mound that everything will be sitting on.

BUILDING THE SCENE

Shape the grass mound, and attach it using foam pads, placing it slightly off centre along the bottom of the card blank.

I then attached my toadstools and used various depths of foam pads to add different heights. I placed the bunny in the centre of the arrangement, and added the little easter egg next to him.

To complete the scene, I cut some of the tiny sprigs of grass and the 'oh so cute' daisies using the dies from the Bunny Games set. I attached all these tiny details to the card, placing one daisy on the bunny's ear...

...and another onto the 'o' of TODAY.

And that is my card finished, and I hope you love what I've made because it really was fun to create!

As always, if you make anything, or if you've been inspired by anything that you've seen here on my blog ~ then please, let me know by tagging me on social media or leaving a comment here and I will be right over to take a look!
