Go Wherever Anyone Wishes...

Hello friends and happy Monday...

Hope you all had a great weekend and ready for the brand new week ahead, and also a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week our theme is called Frame It and we can't wait to see how you will interpret the challenge and what you will create using frames...

When I first started thinking about this challenge, I was thinking about creating a framed panel but once I started, other ideas came into my head and this project just evolved ~ a framed vignette box, with a generous sprinkling of fairy dust and the most gorgeous little fairy sitting on an arrangement of baubles and moss.
So, let's get this project started and here's how I created my vignette box...

To begin with I started by covering the inside of the second largest of the vignette boxes with panels of my favourite paper from the Memoranda Paper Stash, adhering the paper with Matte Collage Medium and then applying a layer of the medium over the top to seal it.
Setting the box to one side and moving onto the frame, I began by priming the surface with gesso and then once it was dry, I applied a coat of Antique Linen over the top. Allow for that to dry before dry brushing Bundled Sage over the surface, dry and then using a clean brush, add a layer of Frayed Burlap, again using the dry brushing technique.

Attach the frame to the covered box and then seal with Matte Collage Medium. To cover the outside of the box, I cut some more of the Memoranda Paper Stash to fit the sides and the back. Adhere the paper with Matte Collage Medium and then once the medium is dry, I aged the edges using Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon. Running the crayon along the edge and then blending it out with my fingertip.

Taking one of the smaller dies from the beautiful Crochet set, I cut three separate borders from Heavy Stock Card. Placing the dies on my glass sheet, I then spritzed them with Iced Spruce and Antique Linen Oxide Sprays, added a light misting of water and dried them with my heat gun. I then inked the edges with a little Frayed Burlap Oxide Ink that I applied to my glass mat, spritzed with a little water and then dipped the crochet border in and out of the ink. Heat dry the border and then attach to the box with Matte Collage Medium, placing the crochet where the frame meets the paper to hide the join.
Now to start building up my scene and I wanted to create this outside of the box, so to enable this to happen, I took the second smallest Vignette Panel, covered it with some more paper from the Memoranda Paper Stash and attached it as a base to the covered vignette box.

But, I had another thought...I needed slightly more width to my base and to create this, I attached a couple of the Etcetera Bracket Trims that I crackled with Crackle Paste, (you can see how I did this,  HERE) joining them along the front of the base, placing the narrower width over the top of the wider trim to create a step. I then applied some colour to the paste using Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs Distress Crayons and a water brush, moving the colour around with the brush, allowing it to sink into the crackles.
The main structure is now finished and all that's left to be done is to create the scene...

I started on the inside and starting with the star that's hanging down, I applied some Matte Collage Medium to the adornment that I took from the idea-ology Souvenir set and then dipped the star into some Vintage Platinum Glitter Dust. Allow to dry before fixing it to some jump rings and then attaching it to the 'roof' of the box with a screw eye in the Vignette Hardware.
I then added a quote, 'go wherever anyone wishes' using Clippings Stickers and placed this on the inside with a couple of Mirrored Stars.
For my little fairy girl, I used one of the Baseboard Paper Dolls and lightly colour tinted her with Distress Marker Pens. I also added a wand from the Treasures Adornments, complete with glittered star that was just dipped into the Vintage Platinum Glitter Dust, before placing the wand in her hands.
For her wings, I took one of the butterflies from the Transparent Butterfly set and snipped away the bottom section to create just two wings which I then stuck to her back with a  small dot of collage medium.

Once the wings are set, I placed her onto her little fairy throne...
This is created using one of the idea-ology Thimbles and a large Bauble Adornment ~ the baubles are all coloured with either a combination of Botanical, Mushroom and Gold Mixative Alcohol Ink or just the Mushroom and Gold Mixative.
I then placed my fairy girl onto her throne, attaching her once again with Collage Medium ~ if you haven't used this stuff yet, you really do need to invest into it and will find that you can't live without it ~ if only Ranger Ink did this in bucket size containers!!!
I arranged the alcohol inked baubles amongst some moss, Bouquet Findings and some dried flowers from my stash.
To complete the box, I added a Curio Knob and a couple of Hardware Heads to the top.
So, that's my project for this week finished and I know I've said it before but this one really has become one of my new favourites...I was thrilled with the finished scene and it will now be put proudly on display in my craft room!

Hope you have fun creating your projects and don't forget, you can find more inspiration from my talented teamies over on the challenge blog and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says StampYou have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in and good luck....

  8. Well, you have definitely inspired me with this one, Emma! I have a few old wooden frames in the cupboard that are waiting for their time to be transformed and I can just see this stunning project being adapted for that festive period in December, with golden baubles and a miniature tree...
Once again, your attention to detail is pure genius and I think I need to go and buy myself some model makers moss...and some crystal knobs...oh and some of that luscious glitter...gosh, visiting your blog is expensive?!!
Thanks for the inspiration...Hugs, Lisa x
