No.0993 ~ He Was Peculiar

Hi everyone...

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and now ready for the week ahead! As always, Monday means that there is a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and this week our theme is called USE MORE THAN ONE STENCIL! Yes, we want you to create a project that uses more than one stencil and we are ready and waiting to see what you come up with and hope you'll join us for this fun challenge.

As the days are now turning cooler and my favourite season is heading our way, I chose to create a Halloween project and with so many wonderful new products from Tim Holtz, how could I resist the wicked temptation of including just a few of them on this tag and introduce you to No.0993 ~ a very peculiar man!

It's time for us to begin this week's brand new challenge...

To begin I prepped my Etcetera tag and hole reinforcer piece using a coat of gesso which I dried before applying my paint, a couple of layers of Black Soot Distress Paint. When that was thoroughly dry, I started by adding my next layer using the first of two stencils. I placed the stencil across the top and the bottom sections of the tag and then applied Grit Paste through it. I placed the hole reinforcer piece onto the tag and I then allowed the paste to dry before adding another layer of paint, covering the paste.
Once again, allow the paint to be completely dry before applying the Metallic Distress Crayons over the top of the embossing to accentuate the design.
Setting the tag to one side, I moved onto the layers and started with my stamped layer. I cut a panel of Mixed Media Heavystock card and placed the Harlequin Shifter Stencil over the top of the card. I then inked through the stencil using a blending tool and Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. Remove the Shifter Stencil and then place back down onto the card panel to obtain your continuous design using Antique Linen Distress Ink.

When I removed the stencil I used a clean blending tool over the top of the inked panel to create a more diffused look to the the stencilling. I then inked the edges before stamping my Anatomical Skeleton from the Inventor 4 Stamp Set, placing him in the centre of my card.
After flicking some ink over the surface, I machine stitched around the outside, leaving the cotton strands to hang loose and matted onto gold metallic card, followed by a layer of black card.
I cut a piece of the Halloween Worn Wallpaper, (I absolutely love this product and the Halloween collection is definitely a favourite, the designs are stunning) and after sanding the edges and adding a few rips and tears around the outside, I attached the paper onto the centre of the tag and then layered another stamped panel over the top, mounting it at an angle.

Moving onto my next layer ~ the Mummy cloth! As you all know, cheesecloth is something I do like using for texture and for grounding other items and this cloth is just perfection ~ I needed this in my crafting life and will be buying it in bulk! For this project, I cut a long strip of the cloth, dyed it with Pumice Stone and Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain and then once it was dry, I wrapped the cloth around tag, tying it into a knot to secure it into place.
Using foam pads, I mounted the stamped panel onto my tag and then placed the 'He Was Peculiar' Quote Chip across the panel.
Now to add those final little details and embellishments and I started with a Vignette Accent piece which I attached over the top of the reinforcer hole before adding a very light coverage of Aged Brass Alchemy Wax over the top. To complete the decorative top section, I placed two Boneyard Findings, tied together with cotton onto the Vignette Accent piece and then added one of those fabulous skulls to the centre of the bones.

I also added some Hardware pieces to the corners of the worn wallpaper panel and placed an Index Clip onto the side of the stamped panel, hanging a spider painted with Black Soot and Candied Apple Distress Paint.
Finally, I attached one of the Hardware Pulls to the bottom of the tag, and placed a piece of inked card inside, complete with Remnant Rub sticker ~ the peculiar man, can now be identified as no.0993...
...and that completes this week's project and my first Halloween piece of this year but if you love this season as much as I do, then keep on popping back as I will be sharing quite a few more over the next couple of months!
Don't forget, you can find more inspiration from my talented teamies over on the challenge blog and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says StampYou have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in and good luck....
