All Is Calm, All Is Bright...

Hello everyone...

Today, I'm back to share another project that I created for the Tim Holtz Holiday Inspiration Series ~ a card that I created using the beautiful Great Outdoors stamp set and combining it with the Mini Swirly Snowflake stamps.

I started by cutting a piece of kraft card, 15 x 18cm and stamping the snowflakes over the entire piece of card, using Versamark Ink Pad. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the top and then heat emboss each flake. I then machine stitched around the outside edge before matting my snowflake background onto a piece of white card, leaving a border showing around the outside. I mounted the matted layers onto a kraft card blank, which I had inked with Picket Fence Distress Ink around the outside.

To create the scene I cut a panel of Heavyweight Mixed Media card to measure, 14.5 x 11.5cm. To create the scene I began by tearing a piece of copy paper and laying it across the bottom section of my card to mask off the hill. I then cut a circle from a sticky note, which will act as my mask to create the moon. Lay the circle directly down onto the card and then using Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, blend the ink from the edges of the card towards the centre to create the night sky. Remove both of the masks from the card and ink the inside of the moon with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also added some ink to the bottom section of the card, softly blending it around the outside edge.

To complete the night sky, ink the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink and then flick small amounts of water over the ink, blotting away the excess before heat drying the card.

I now had my basic background and proceeded to stamp the gorgeous images directly onto it using Jet Black Archival Ink. I stamped the deer in the centre and then stamped the skeleton trees either side, using the second generation image to create the faded stamped tree. I completed the scene by stamping the wording "All Is Calm, All Is Bright", ensuring that the "calm" side of the wording was on the midnight blue sky and the "bright" side was in the moon.
For the shadows underneath the deer and the trees, I used some more Antique Linen Distress Ink before adding some glitter highlights to the trees, hill and shadows.

I matted the scene onto layers of silver metallic card, followed by corrugated card and white card...
...before wrapping string around the bottom section and adding some die cut foliage, cut from Classic Kraft Stock card, using the Festive Greens dies.
I completed the card with a wood slice, (LOVE these) which has a slight frosty sparkle created by smearing a small amount of Collage Medium over the log and sprinkling with Rock Candy Dry Glitter.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you love this card.
See again soon...Emma x
