Hey everyone...
It's Monday, which means that there is a brand new challenge starting today over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week is all about a Trio of Colour!
The challenge is to use three colours of ink, paint or another colour medium of the same kind. From distress ink to gelatos, acrylic paint to pens, you pick the medium and the trio and we can't wait to see what you create!
For my project, I chose to use a trio of colours that I think are a match made in heaven, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry and gold and used these to create a journal page with an explosion of colour and a little fun character...meet, Pablo Peckasso!
To begin with I used the Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry Mini Distress Ink pads and applied them directly to the right hand page of my Dylusions Journal which I had already lightly misted with water. I then moved the book around to create a dripped effect with the inks, just letting them run in any direction they wanted. I then applied the Distress Ink through the Donna Downey Bubbles stencil, moving the stencil around the pages and layering each colour and circle over the top of the previous until I was happy with the design.I then wanted to create a bokeh effect over the top of the bubbles I'd already laid down and for this I used Dylusions Paint in White Linen and applied the paint through the Bubbles stencil using a mini blending tool.
I now had my basic background but needed to add more layers so for this I added some torn strips of Tissue Tape, some Texture Paste which I applied through the PaperArtsy Eclectica 3 stencil and to finish I added some flicks of Antiqued Bronze Distress Spray Stain across the pages.
I then set aside the pages and moved onto my little fun character ~ the artist that had caused this explosion of colour...Pablo Peckasso!
To begin with I stamped the bird twice, onto water colour card, watercoloured the images with Distress Marker Pens and a water brush and then used the co-ordinating dies to cut him and all his little body parts. Once my little birdie had been layered up, I added Glossy Accents over his eyes before attaching a memo pin complete with Chit Chat sticker under his wing.
I added one of the quotes from the Small Talk sticker set onto my page and then placed Pablo into position.
The next stage was to add the word "BOOM" which I stamped directly onto the page, before stamping a second image onto water colour card. I coloured the image stamped onto my page using Dylusions White Linen paint and then coloured the second image on the watercolour card, using Distress Marker Pens. I then cut around the outline of the boom word only and cutting away the little puffs of smoke and laid it over the top of the image on my page.
Finally, all that was needed was a paint brush and I used the stamp from the Crazy Things stamp set and once it was coloured, I added this to the page.
As always, if you need any further inspiration for this challenge, then you need look no further than our blog to see all the wonderful creations from all the very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp.
