W Is For White... Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone...

Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend and now ready for the week ahead!

Today, is the start of this week's brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this challenge is all about ~ "W is for White". There are so many shades of white, from cream to navajo and with applications from nautical to patriotic to winter. So, how will you use white this week?  Will it be gesso? Ink? Or pen? Or perhaps you will just transform a piece of white cardstock! Whatever you choose, we can't wait to see!

Now, you might look at my piece and think...wait a minute? White?!? There's a lot of colour on there for white!!! But my take on this week's challenge was to use plain white cardstock and make the most of white space. Something that I don't do very often but wanted to give it a go...so, as always I hope you love what I've made and enjoy how I created this piece!

To begin with I took a piece of Ranger's Stamping Card and applied some Broken Glass, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and applied it to the card. 

I gave the paint a good spritz of water and then let the water do it's job and blend that gorgeous paint and also allowing it to drip down the card. I added a few more layers of paint and blended it with my finger before adding more of the Picked Raspberry through the Dotted Fade Layering Stencil for added layers.

To complete the background, I added some white paint lines and circles and then splashed a little Black Soot across the whole background.

At this stage, there was a big old white space in the bottom right hand corner, and that's where I wanted to stamp my image. So for this I used one of Dina Wakley's Faces, from the Face In The Crowd stamp set and stamped it in Black Archival Ink. 

I then painted the image with more Distress Paints picking out some of the background colour within the image. 

Finally, I stamped the message onto the background to complete the piece.

I mounted the finished piece onto black card, then matted it onto a further piece of white card and doodled a border frame around the outside before mounting it on a further piece of black card.

As a finishing touch I added a large white bow, with some black twine and decorative pins and then, used a Wire Pin to attach a Heart Charm...

...and attached a Melissa Frances hanger.
