London Calling...

Hello friends and welcome to another brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! This week our theme is called HOME SWEET HOME and when I thought about this title, three was only one thing that sprung to mind, a project all about my home town of London ~ home sweet home!
So, it's time for a new challenge and here's how I created this project!

To begin with I took the smallest sized Etcetera tag and primed the surface with gesso ~ priming the tag with gesso will give me a great surface for attaching my layers and not allow any of the mediums to sink into the substrate.

I then cut a piece of the paper from the Correspondence Paper Stash and cut it so that the Union Jack would be showing down the right hand side of the tag. I adhered the paper to the tag, using Collage Medium and then brushed the medium over the top. If you find you have some rough edges, just use the sanding tool and gently sand these away to leave a smooth edge to the paper and to your tag.

Using a palette knife, I then applied a good amount of Crazing Medium around the edges of the tag. Allow the medium to dry thoroughly, don't be tempted to poke it with your finger!! Once it is dry, I then blended some Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the top of the crazing and used a semi dry baby wipe to just rub the ink into the crackles. Finally, I used the Black Soot Distress Crayon around the edges and blended out the crayon with my fingers and flicked a small amount of gesso across the surface.
For the next stage, I created my globe ~ I started by cutting the globe from Mixed Media Heavystock Card and then dabbed the surface with a Versamark Watermark Ink Pad before sprinkling Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder over the top. Heat emboss the globe until molten and then repeat with a second layer of the ink pad and the embossing powder to create a really silky finish to the globe. Whilst the powder is still hot, sprinkle in a small amount of Black Embossing Powder and then apply some more heat!
Once the globe is cool, rub the Vintage Photo Distress Crayon over random areas and blend out with your finger.

I attached the globe with foam pads over the top of some of remaining sheet of paper, placing it so the words Soho Foundry showed through and then I attached the globe to my tag, setting it slightly off the edge and cutting away the excess. I completed the globe by highlighting the UK with a star adornment, altered with alcohol ink.
I layered some Collector's Layers pieces, idea-ology and a button over the top of the globe before adding my Paper Doll, the perfect English gentleman! At this stage, I also added an Arrow Adornment which I coloured with Gold Wax.
For the London Calling wording I used some Typography Findings. I painted each letter with Chipped Sapphire, allowed them to dry and then using Prima's Alchemy Paints, I applied Steampunk Copper and Unicorn's Hair over the top before adding a touch of Red Amber Alchemy Wax.

I attached the letters to the tag using Collage Medium and also added a Rusty Heart and a metal screw, placed over a sprocket gear.
For the final part of this tag, I added the pocket watch which I hung from a screw eye fastening. Inside my pocket watch I attached a piece of paper that I stamped with the Postmark stamp from the Correspondence Stamp Set. I also added a pointy finger and a flower from the Bouquet Findings, coloured with Weathered Wood.
...and that complete's my project for this week! A vintage style tag telling a story of an English Gentleman from Belgravia who believes that the world is his oyster!
I really hope you've been inspired by my project and as always, if you do need any further inspiration, then you need look no further than our blog to see all the wonderful creations from all the very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says StampYou have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in and good luck....
