Let It Shine ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hey everyone!

It's the start of a brand new week and also an exciting new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week the theme is...SO GLOSSY!

Whether you choose a glossy medium gel and a stencils, clear embossing powder or Glossy Accents. Maybe gloss card or shiny domed embellishments, there is a lot of gloss power and this week we encourage you to get your gloss out and be inspired!

For my project, I chose one of my favourite techniques, using Texture Paste through a stencil onto alcohol inked gloss card to create this burlap panel wall hanging which would be perfect for a Christmas gift or maybe just something to hang in your home!

...and here's how I made it!

To begin with I took my burlap panel and added some gesso around the edges. Set the panel aside to dry whilst you work on the next step.

For this I cut a piece of gloss card, slightly smaller than the burlap panel. I applied Mushroom, Hazelnut and Latte Alcohol Inks onto a craft sheet together with the Gold Mixative and then added drops of Alcohol Blending Solution to the mix. Drag the gloss card through the inks to create a marbled effect.
Next, layer the Festive stencil over the top of the card and apply your Transparent Texture Paste through the stencil. Remove the stencil carefully and leave to dry. This might take a while so, whilst it's drying you can move onto getting your poinsettias and foliage ready.

Using the Tattered Poinsettia die, die cut layers of the flower petals from lightweight card. I used Festive Berries Distress Paint to add colour to my petals because I wanted to splatter them with paint later and I find this way the white paint keeps it's colour and doesn't bleed!
Spritz the painted petals with a light mist of Biscotti Perfect Pearls Spray Mist and dry. Shape the petals and layer them over the top of one another to create your dimensional flowers. I added a small dot of Glossy Accents to the centre and sprinkled with micro beads. Leave to dry.

Die cut some holiday greens foliage from Kraft Core Core'dinations card and lay all the pieces in front of you on a craft sheet, together with your flowers. Flick Picket Fence Distress Paint over all the die cut pieces and leave to dry, before adding glitter to the tips of the Holiday Greens.
Next, I added my screw pins into the top of my panel, together with some metal rings. I dyed some crinkle ribbon using Antique Linen Distress Stain and attached the ribbon to the rings.

By this time, your background should be dry enough to machine stitch around the outside and then matt onto a piece of Metallic Gold Kraft Core Core'Dinations card.

Mount the layers onto your panel and add your foliage and poinsettias.
Die cut the word "Believe" from the gold Deco Sheet and attach to background, together with a scattering of sequins.
I also added two metal studs in the top corners of the panel.
To complete the panel, I altered the colour of two Box Corners using Gold Mixative Alcohol Ink and attached these to the bottom left and right hand corners.
Finally, I took one of the tags from the Ephemera pack and tied it onto my ribbon using twine...
...and added some decorative pins and rusty wire into the arrangement!
I really hope you've loved how I created this panel and that it inspires you with some ideas of how to make your own!
