Lazy Days of Summer...

Hi everyone!

Just a quick visit from me today to say hello, wish you all a very happy weekend and to share a card that I made for the August issue of Making Cards Magazine!

This card was all about summer and even though we haven't had the greatest of summers here in the UK, I can still remember my childhood when I broke up from school and we headed to the beach and for me, this card epitomises those days and good times...

As always, you can read all about how I made this shaker card in the magazine and back issues are available HERE but here on my blog, you can see all the details that are packed into this design with a difference...
The fun thing about this card is that all the backgrounds, the embossed frame, the seahorse and the starfish, all started life as white card. All that I added was some backing card, the moss, buttons, cheesecloth, shells and twine. I even created the striped background by masking the paper and using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Paint to form the stripes.
Hope you love looking at all the details of this card and enjoy your moment in the summer sun!
I added crystal dewdrops and sequins to form the shaker section of the card which is created using one of the folders from the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Waves and Bubbles Texture Fade set.
All dies, embossing folders, Distress Paints, Stains and Inks ~ Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink and of course you can buy all the products I use from Simon Says Stamp!
I used Rock Candy Crackle Paint on the seahorse to create more texture and painted him (or her) with Distress Paint.
As you can see there is plenty of dimension to this card.
Don't forget that the new September issue of Making Cards is available now Making Cards complete with 16 free craft papers!
Visit www.makingcardsmagazine.com or call 01778 395171 to order and below is a sneaky peek of my project and some of the fabulous free papers. It's not to be missed...

Thanks for stopping by today and hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
See you soon...love Emma x

  1. So clever to create your own stripes too, Emma! Love this card. All the ephemera is so beautiful and the shaker insert remind me of rolling waves! Every detail is so beautiful!

  2. A lovely Card Emma that really does capture the essence of Summer at the beach - the stripey background reminds me of those 'ever so problematic to put up and take down' deck chairs lol . Love the crackled seahorse in the striking red and those sandy coloured stars . Wonderful idea to create a shaker window of crystal gems .
Thanks for taking me to the seaside today . Hope your hand is healing well . big hugs xx
