A Home Is Made of Love and Dreams...

Hey everyone and wishing you all a very Happy May Day!

Firstly, thank you so much to all my new followers, it's always lovely to see new faces and I hope you enjoy my creative journey! :)

Today, I'm popping by to share a little project that I made using some gorgeous DecoArt products. I've used their products in the past but I had never used Chalky Finish paint and I was absolutely blown away with the result!
I'd picked up a piece of home decor from Primark a while back, it was reduced to £1 and it was one of those moments when I thought, "hey, that might be useful to upcycle one day...you never know"! Of course, it stayed in my stash and I never found that moment until now and armed with Relic and Everlasting Chalky paint, I gave this unloved piece a makeover ~ which took it from this.....
....to this!!!
I love the look of French shabby chic furniture and decided to create a piece that would have the same feel. So after painting my Home sign with a coat of Relic, I then dry brushed a layer of Everlasting over the top. I sanded back some of the top layer of paint to reveal the layer underneath before applying a coat of Creme Wax, which will protect my paint.
To embellish my shabby chic sign, I added a Prima Marketing Resin Angel and some Finnabair Metal Flowers ~ all of which are altered using Metallic Lustre Waxes in Fab Fuchsia and Gold Rush.
To complete the arrangement, I also added some paper roses which I dipped into a little of the Everlasting Chalky Finish Paint, a hat pin and a paperclip.
To go alongside my newly painted home decor sign, I also painted a bottle using a couple of coats of Serene Chalky Finish paint, with a dry brushing of Everlasting over the top. The paint adheres to the glass beautifully and I love how you can sand it back to reveal some of the glass underneath and create a worn look. To complete the bottle, I applied some Relic through an Andy Skinner stencil. To give the paint a durable finish, I popped the throughly dry bottle into the oven for 30 mins, 325 F ~ this cures the paint.
As a finishing touch, I added twine and hanging metal heart before making some paper roses using the Tattered Pinecone die from Tim Holtz and colouring the petals with Distress Inks to create an everlasting bouquet of flowers.
Thank you so much for popping by today and I hope you love these pieces of home decor that I've made!

See you soon ~ love Emma xx
