Bold Stamping ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello everyone!

It's the start of Stamptember over at Simon Says Stamp and I really hope you'll join us for a month long stamp party full of inspiration and celebrations.
I can't quite believe how fast this year has flown but here we are, at the start of a brand new month and a brand new week, which of course means that we have an exciting new challenge starting over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. This week, we challenge you to make a statement and use some BOLD STAMPING! Whether it be with bright ink, a large stamp or a bold statement ~ we can't wait t see what you create.

For my project, I love this time of year and I wanted to capture the feel of beautiful colours that start appearing as the leaves change and we head into a new season ~ so, with this in mind and with the challenge of bold stamping, I decided to use a large stamp as the background for my autumnal/fall inspired burlap panel. As always, I hope you love what I've made...
To begin with, I applied some Gesso over random areas of the Burlap Panel and gave it a blast with the heat gun to dry it, or just set it aside whilst you move on to the next stage ~ stamping!

For this, I used a piece of Manila card which I swiped through some Distress Stains, spritzed with a little water, that I applied to my craft sheet. I dried the card before inking up the large Damask stamp from Tim Holtz with Forest Moss Distress Ink and stamping the image onto the centre of the card. Whilst the ink is still wet, I applied some Sticky Embossing Powder over the top, heated it with a heat tool and then added some Rock Candy Distress Glitter over the top, tipping away the excess glitter and returning it to the pot.
I then machine sewed around the edge of the card and matted it onto some Spiced Marmalade Core'Dinations card, which I distressed around the edges. I attached the layers of card onto my panel using Multi Medium and then inked the edges of the panel with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Now to decorate and for this, I started by hand dying two pieces of Crinkle Ribbon using Spiced Marmalade, a touch of Barn Door and Ripe Persimmon Distress Stains. I tied one piece of ribbon around the bottom section of the panel and then added a bow to the right hand side, using the second piece.

I then used Grungepaper to die cut all my decorative pieces using the Tattered Leaves die, the "oh so cute" owl from the Mini Owl and Crescent Moon die set and I trimmed some twigs from the Bird Branch die. I coloured all the leaves and twigs, using Distress Inks and arranged them all, together with some cheese cloth and some real moss, in the bottom right hand corner, placing them around the bow and attaching them with a hot glue gun.
For the owl, I covered the Grungepaper with a layer of Black Soot Distress Paint and once the paint was dry, I added some Rock Candy Crackle Paint. When the crackles have started to appear, you can speed up the process using a heat gun and once you're happy that the paint is completely dry, I added some Black Soot Distress Stain over the top and allowed it to sink deep into the crackles. I then added my little owl to the branch arrangement.
To complete the arrangement, I added an antique button to the centre of the bow.
As a finishing touch to the panel, I used some mirrored stars, a chit chat sticker and added the word "Twilight" and then place a Remnant Rub spider underneath the word, drawing a fine line between them to look as if the spider is hanging from it's web.
Finally, I added some corners to the panel, which I altered slightly with Picket Fence Distress Paint and a Curio Knob to the top.

So, that's it from me for today and I hope you've enjoyed the creative process behind this piece. As always, if you're looking for some more great ideas and inspiration, then you need to look no further than the blog to see all the wonderful creations from my very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. 16. I'm a rare bird (um..bee) because I'm kind of "ho-hum" for Halloween but fall is a favorite time of year and you've captured the spirit of both in such a gentle way and it's very appealing.
