Challenge of 5 ~ Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello friends...

Another week has flown by and I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Today, is the start of a brand new challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week it's all about the CHALLENGE OF 5!! For me, this challenge really lived up to it's name because I decided to challenge myself to use five products only and apart from the cardstock and paper, I carefully chose items within five product ranges...Distress Inks, Idea-Ology, Sizzix Dies, Embossing Folder and a stamp.

Now, for those of you who know my work, know that I do love detail and that was the first thing that I wanted to achieve with this tag...lots of detail but with the minimum of product. I also wanted to incorporate texture and dimension into this tag and it really is amazing what you can achieve with so few products!! As always, I hope you love what I've made...
To begin with I took the tag from the Manila Card pack and inked the surface of the tag with Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Shabby Shutters Distress Inks. I gave it a quick spritz of water to blend the inks and then heat dried it before embossing the inked tag through the Big Shot using the Regal Flourishes Texture Fade.
I inked over the embossed areas of the tag with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and set it aside for later. The next stage was to create that kaleidoscope of butterflies and for this I used old book paper and the Butterfly Frenzy die. I layered each of the larger butterflies to give me some dimension and inked the edges with some more Peacock Feathers DI.
To get that gorgeous colour on the Crinkle Ribbon, I applied some Shabby Shutters DI to my craft sheet and spritzed it with water. I then let the ribbon soak up all the gorgeous pigment and colour before heat drying it. I wrapped a strip around the tag and then cut a further piece to use for my bow.
I stamped the Reality quote onto a piece of Manila card, which was inked with Old Paper and Antique Linen Distress Ink. I aged the edges of the card and inked these with some more Walnut Stain DI and then attached it to my tag, tying the crinkle ribbon bow next to it and attaching the Heart Charm with a Wire Pin.
Finally, I attached all my butterflies onto the tag before threading some jute string through the top.
So, I really hope you've enjoyed today's photo tutorial of how I made this "challenging" tag and that you loved what I've shared today. As always, for more great ideas and inspiration, then you need to look no further than the blog to see all the wonderful creations from my very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. Good luck....

  13. Yes, Emma, it is initially clear that you have used minimum products but definitely to maximum benefit! Little details mean a lot - it draws the eye in to study every part of the tag rather than standing back to admire the whole. Well done!
