Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge ~ The Big Stamp

Hello friends...

Today, is the start of the brand new challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and this week it's all about THE BIG STAMP. So whether you uses it as a background, large image, pattern or maybe just a big stamp pad...we want to see what you create with those big stamps!!

I love text backgrounds but sometimes, even though they may be old and been sitting on the bookshelf forever, I do find it hard to rip up those precious books that I have in my collection...it just seems so wrong. So, I decided to use a gorgeous BIG stamp from Hero Arts to create the background to my card all about love and friendship.

To begin with I applied Iced Spruce, Brushed Corduroy and Antique Bronze Distress Stains to my craft sheet and spritzed it with water before dragging a piece of Manila card through the stains to colour it. I then stamped the gorgeous Hero Arts text onto the card using black Archival Ink. The edges are inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then I aged them by scuffing the edges and creating small rips and tears. To complete the background, I used Black Soot Distress Paint, slightly watered down and flicked small amounts onto the card.
Next, I cut a strip of Crinkle Ribbon and dyed it with Victorian Velvet and Antique Linen Distress Stains. I heat dried the ribbon before I wrapped it around my text background. Finally, I pierced a small hole in the top of the card and attached a Clock Key.
I then used a piece of embossed card from the Pink Paislee Modern Prints Core'dinations card pack and lightly sanded over the raised areas before lightly inking them with Old Paper Distress Ink. Again, I aged the edges of the card, cut it to size and mounted it onto a kraft card blank. I then mounted the text background onto the centre of the covered card blank.
I now needed to create that gorgeous metal heart which I did by adhering Metal Foil tape to Grungepaper and then die cutting the heart using the Sizzix Love Struck die. I then embossed the heart in a Texture Fade and applied layers of Alcohol Ink to the surface. To make my heart look that little bit more old and shabby, I used Black Soot Distress Paint over the top of the inks and then rubbed away the excess, leaving it to puddle in the embossed areas.
I added some Idea-ology Gadget Gears to the centre, together with a Spinner and then attached the heart onto my card blank.
I dyed further strips of Crinkle Ribbon and threaded these through the piece already on my card and tied them into a bow, adding a piece of Paper String in the centre. Finally, I inked another piece of Manila card and then stamped the quote from the Wendy Vecchi, Lovely Art stamp set and mounted this onto my card.

So, I really hope you've enjoyed the process of how I made this card and that you loved what I've shared today. As always, for more great ideas and inspiration, then you need to look no further than the blog to see all the wonderful creations from my very talented Design Team members and every week, one lucky random participant has the chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp.
