Spooktacular

Hi everyone and hope you've all had a fabulous start to your week.

It's hard to believe that we are in the final week of October...dark nights are drawing in, the clocks go back at the weekend...eek, Christmas is coming too quickly!! Once Halloween and Bonfire Night is over...it will be the final countdown and at the moment, I am by no means ready!! Can someone tell Santa I might need an extension... lol

Oh well, what's not done this year, will have to remain that way and I'm sure that Christmas will be fabulous with or without the chutney, or the Christmas cake, maturing for six weeks. hehe...

But back to today and of course, it's Halloween next week and I thought it would be nice to count down with some "spooktacular" projects ~ and here's the first, I hope you like it!!
The basic shape of the door hanger is covered in one of the papers from the 13th Hour collection by Kaisercraft, which is available from Merly Impressions. I then die cut some chipboard using a selection of Tim Holtz's Alterations dies, the skull and bats, the leaf and twig and of course the birdcage and wings. I then painted them with black Eco Green acrylic paint. The wings have a coat of PaperArtsy's Fresco Finish Metallic Acrylic Glaze over them to give a shimmery effect.
I added some Glossy Accents and Rock Candy Distress Stickles, to the rose.
As final touches I added some seam binding, a message from one of Tim's stamp sets and a little bird from the 13th Hour chipboard shapes.

Before I go, just to let you know that the Making Cards Christmas Special is out very soon and it's all about a traditional Christmas and there's one or two of my projects in there too!! I even have one on the cover...that's it on the bottom right!! Yay...

Well, I'd better be going but I'll be around later to visit all your blogs and see what you've been up to.
Bye for now and have a lovely evening!
Love Emma

  2. Wow, amazing door hanger Emma! I love the way you put glossy accents on the roses - looks just like morning dew.

If you manage to get an extension will you ask Santa if I can have one too, lol!!

  3. I have not started my Christmas cake either, Emma. That means it will need somewhere near a bottle of brandy to feed it and mature it faster. As far as finishing the cards for Christmas, I may have to put on a disguise and sneak into a "shop" to take up the slack (Did I really say that?)

  5. I see you've been extra productive again, Emma. The cards from your last couple of posts are exquisite. I love the colours and the papers are scrumptious.
I have to admit to not being a fan of Halloween, it can't be over fast enough for me, yes I know bah humbug, but your tag is great. I especially love the flower.
    Hope you are keeping well.
