The Edwardian Lady

As promised, here is the second of my Vintage Ladies projects that I made using the fabulous images from The Crafthouse Press.

For this project, my inspirations came from The Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I wanted to try and recreate the feeling of a keepsake card from the Edwardian era and the style of a concertina card was perfect for this. I made the concertina card by sticking two A6 cards together in the middle and then I added some organza ribbon and tied it around the whole card. Then I covered each of the sections with backing papers. Once again, for this card I used papers from one of my favourite papercraft companies ~ K & Company. They do some fabulous vintage style papers and whenever I make cards from a bygone era, I will always use their papers and products. Once I'd chosen the papers it was just a matter of layering them up to give the collage effect that I needed.
To re-create the "old-world" feel to the card, I used distress inks on the edges of all the papers and on the front of the card, I even curled the paper around a cocktail stick, on one of the corners, so it gave the impression that it was aged. I added the main decoupaged image to the front of the card and added touches of glitter to highlight the flowers in her hair. To complete the card, I stamped images onto the inside folds, I added a stamped greetings plaque and then as the pièce de résistance I found these wonderful feathers from John Lewis and knew that they would make the most exquisite finishing touch to the card. And here it is...the completed card in all it's glory! I hope you like it...
Anyway, hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday and as for me....I think today is a staying in day...it's perfect weather to craft and watch TV and even though the weather isn't the sunshine we were promised today, I only have to look out of my window and into the garden to see the gorgeous cherry blossom on the trees, which makes me think "spring" Here are some photos and took yesterday and to see more click here for my Flickr page).
