Breakfast At Tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn ~ not only was she a style icon, actress and humanitarian, she was also Holly Golightly in one of my favourite films Breakfast At Tiffany's. I once read that Truman Copote wanted Marilyn Monroe as the lead in the film but Marilyn was told by her drama coach that playing the role of a call girl was not good for her image. So along came Audrey, and even though she was quoted as saying:

"I was nothing like her, but I felt I could 'act' Holly. I knew the part would be a challenge, but I wanted it anyway. I always wonder if I risked enough on that one. I should have been a little more outrageous. But at the time, as a new mother, I was about as wild as I could be. If only I were a Method player, huh? But the fact is, I didn't really believe in The Method. I believed in good casting. And I'm still not sure about Holly and me..."

-Audrey Hepburn

...at the end of the day....in my opinion ~ no-one could've done it better!

Anyway, back to papercrafting and my card. Those amongst you who don't know me, should by now have guessed that I do love Breakfast At Tiffany's and the wonderful Ms. Hepburn. So imagine my excitement, when I saw this stamp across the room, at Ally Pally last week...I just had to have it. And here's the card that I made....
I wanted to keep the overall look of this card, classy, elegant and use monochrome tones but as a finishing touch, I added just the smallest hint of red to the centre of the beautiful white pearlescent flowers, that I used from Craftwork Cards. The backing papers that I adhered onto a white, square card blank, are from Inspire Me Papers and are some of the most elegant and beautiful papers that I have owned. The photos really can't do them justice but they have the most gorgeous finish to them, with embossed flowers and a stunning pearlescent sheen. The borders, are made from strips of the same paper,  punched using my trusty Martha Stewart border punch and then matted down the side of the card. I stamped the image of Audrey, using a Memento ink pad in black, onto a piece of white cardstock which I had already die cut using a Spellbinders large scallop circle. I then adhered this onto the card and added small adhesive pearls around the scallops. Finally I added dotty organza ribbon, for a sheer touch of elegance, the paper flowers and a greetings plaque.

  2. Oh my goodness...this is one of my favourite cards to date...no question!

The monochrome colour choice is perfect! I love the black and white punch cuts running the length of the card and the little hint of red on the flowers is an especially brilliant touch!

I think it's amazing! Simple, in that it's not flashy...yet so intricate in it's design and creation! I just love it! :)

Great work baby...you did Audrey proud! :D <333
