The Roaring Twenties

Haven't been around for a couple of days, so I was just popping in to say hi...

I'm still catching up after being out of action for the last few weeks whilst suffering with that awful cold but this morning, I was going through my cards that I've made and this is one that I did actually make at the end of last year but wanted to share it because it has to be one of my very favourite cards. As, I've mentioned before, I absolutely love everything and anything to do with Art Deco, there is something so elegant and glamorous about that whole period in time...from the architecture and interior design, through to the visual arts which featured such wonderful paintings and artists, movie stars and of course, fashion.

On this particular card, I wanted to get a real feel for the period and used monochromatic colours, together with the beautiful image of this stunning lady. I used an aperture card and centred the main image on the inside of the card, so that you look through the aperture to see it. I then layered the oval die cuts, using foam pads, on the outside of the card, with each one cut slightly smaller than the last, to give the invertage look. Because the image itself is so gorgeous I really didn't want to do an awful lot to this card that would detract from the lady itself, so as a final touch, I added a greetings plaque and then adhered a small black adhesive pearl to her ring and that was really all it needed.

  1. This has to be one of the crown jewels of your work to date... definitely in my top 5...I loved this card the minute I saw it!

Not only the image, which is STUNNING, but the layering is amazing...the colours are perfect, they really set off the red lips and hands of the woman...and the balance and structure of the card is spot on...it really couldn't be done any better! :)

Take a bow, baby....it's just an elegant and beautiful work of art! :D <333
